Background: The purpose of the study was to investigate the level of infection control and prevention awareness among dental practitioners in Korea based on the infection control and prevention guidelines of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the United States. Methods: A survey was created on ‘Standard and Education on CDC Infection Control Standards’, ‘Matters related to CDC Infection Control Prevention’, and ‘Characteristics of Research Subjects and Infection Control Characteristics’ based on the CDC Dental Infection Control List.’ A total of 222 surveys were conducted and used for frequency and cross-tabulation analyses. Results: Most research participants worked at university or general hospitals, and 93.7% had received infection prevention education within the past year. The average awareness of the CDC dental infection control standards and education was 77.2 %, which was higher than previous research results. Preventive awareness was 71.5% on average, and there was a statistically significant difference in preventive awareness between the certified and noncertified evaluation groups (p<0.001). Conclusion: The participants of this study showed a higher awareness of infection control standards, education, and prevention than those in previous studies. However, this was insufficient compared with the CDC dental infection control standard prevention guidelines. Therefore, government agencies and related organizations must establish systematic infection control systems.

연구배경 및 목적: 본 연구의 목적은 미국질병관리센터(CDC) 치과감염관리 표준예방지침에 기준하여 감염관리 인식과 예방에 관한 인식을 알아보고자 하였다. 연구방법: CDC 치과감염관리 목록을 기준으로 ‘CDC 감염관리기준에 관한 표준 및 교육’, ‘CDC 감염관리 예방 에 관한 사항‘, ’연구대상자의 특성 및 감염관리 특성‘에 관한 설문을 구성하였다. 총 222개의 설문을 빈도분석과 교차분석을 실시하여 분석에 활용하였다. 결과: 연구대상자의 특성은 대부분 대학병원이나 종합병원에 근무하고 있었으며 최근 1년이내 감염 예방 교육을 93.7%가 받은 것으로 나타났다. CDC 치과 감염관리 표준 및 교육 인식은 평균 77.2%로 이전 연구 결과와 비교 해 더 높았다. 예방에 관한 인식은 평균 71.5%로 나타났으며 인증평가를 받은 그룹에서 통계적으로 유의한 차이 로 예방에 관한 인식이 높았다(p<0.001). 결론: 본 연구 대상자는 감염관리 표준 및 교육 인식과 예방에 관한 인식이 이전연구 보다 높게 나타났다. 그러나 CDC 치과감염관리 표준예방지침에 비교하여 미흡한 수준이었다. 따라서 정부 부처와 관련 기관은 체계적인 감 염관리 시스템을 구축하기 위한 노력이 필요하다.
