The purpose of this study is to find out the experience of participating in online gambling of adolescents who have been placed on probation. Investigations on participation in online gambling by adolescents who have been placed on probation are insufficient. Against this background, by gender, age, by type of crime currently under probation, and by level of gambling problem, the onset, the route of access to online gambling and the process of using it, the degree of awareness of the illegality of gambling, and secondary crime participation experience, and stress caused by online gambling were investigated. This study conducted a survey on the past online gambling participation experiences targeting 189 adolescents under probation across the country. The survey was conducted by probation officers in charge of juveniles at probation offices across the country with the assistance of the Ministry of Justice. As a result of the survey, 113 out of 189 people (about 60%) were found to have participated in online gambling in the past, and it was found that they first started online gambling at the average age of 15.4 years. 84.9% of 113 adolescents were included in the gambling problem group and the risk group. In addition, specific contents and policy suggestions were dealt with in detail.

본 연구는 보호관찰 처분을 받은 청소년을 대상으로 청소년의 온라인도박 참여 경 험 실태를 파악하는 것에 목적이 있다. 아직까지 보호관찰 처분을 받은 청소년의 온 라인도박 참여에 대한 조사는 미흡한 바, 본 연구는 구체적으로 성별, 연령별, 현재 보호관찰 처분을 받은 범죄 유형별, 그리고 도박문제 수준별로 온라인도박 최초 시작 연령(onset), 온라인도박 접근 경로 및 이용 과정, 도박의 불법성에 대한 인식 정 도, 도박 빚 등으로 인한 2차 범죄 가담 경험, 그리고 온라인도박으로 인한 스트레스 등을 파악하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 본 연구는 전국에 보호관찰 중인 청소년 189 명을 대상으로 과거 온라인도박 참여 경험에 대한 설문조사를 시행하였다. 설문조사 는 법무부의 협조를 통해 전국 보호관찰소의 청소년 담당 보호관찰관에 의해 시행되 었다. 설문조사 결과 189명 중 113명(약 60%)이 과거에 온라인도박 참여 경험이 있 는 것으로 나타났으며 평균 15.4세에 처음 온라인도박을 시작한 것으로 밝혀졌다. 113명의 84.9%에 해당하는 청소년이 도박문제 문제군과 위험군에 포함되었다. 이 외 에 청소년의 집단별 차이와 도박문제 수준과 상관관계가 드러난 변인 등 구체적인 내용과 정책적 제언을 본문에서 상세히 다루었다.
