Currently, interest in traditional architecture is increasing. In addition, there is a strong movement to globalize itself by strengthening the local culture. Korea traditional architectural Hanok is not limited to its traditional cultural value, but has an eco-friendly, beautiful, and sensuous beauty. Nevertheless, i would like to find out why the reasons and problems why Hanok is not being activated in reality and is being eliminated. For this study, a preference survey for hanok was conducted on 69 people in their 20s and 30s living in Jinju-si, Gyeongsangnam-do. Although more than 84% of the voters responded, "People once thought I wanted to live in a hanok," Hanok is shunned by people as a residential type because it does not fit the lifestyle of modern people and has poor insulation performance, Therefore, sufficient research and improvement measures should be devised for modernization that meets the needs of modern people as a residence and does not lose the identity of traditional residences.

현재 전통건축에 대한 관심도가 많이 높아지고 지역 고유문화를 강화하여 그 자체를 세계화시키는 움직임이 강하게 일어나고 있다. 우리의 전통건축 한옥은 전통 문화적으로서의 가치에 국한하지 않고 친환경적이고 아름다우며 감각적인 미가 있다. 그럼에도 한옥이 현실적으로 활성화 되지 않고 도태되어가는 이유와 문제점에 대해서 알아보고 자 한다. 본 연구를 위해 경상남도 진주시에 거주하는 20~30대를 69명을 대상으로 한옥에 대한 선호도설문조사를 실시하였다. 투표대상자 중 약 84% 이상이 ‘한옥에서 살고싶다는 생각을 한적이 있다.’의 응답을 했음에도 한옥은 현대인의 생활패턴과 맞지 않아 불편하고 단열성능도 떨어져 거주형태로써 사람들에게 외면당하고 있다. 따라서 거주지로서 현대인의 요구에 부응하며 전통 거주지의 정체성을 잃지 않는 현대화를 위한 충분한 연구와 개선책을 강구해야한다.
