The purpose of this study is to identify and analyze the research trends related to North Korean defectors from 2000 to 2021 and to reconstruct the main words by area from the perspective of lifelong education to draw concrete directions. The results of the analysis showed that the literature research was the most followed by qualitative research and quantitative research. From the perspective of lifelong education, it was found that the concept of education of North Korean defectors is based on the educational experience in Hanawon rather than the educational experience in North Korea. In addition, most of the North Korean defectors learned information about Korean society before defecting from North Korea through media such as dramas and YouTube. The priority of North Korean defectors in Korean society is still about adaptation and settlement, and the survival of South Korea of North Korean defectors is a test of 'first unification' for all residents of North and South Korea.Therefore, Hanawon, the first gateway, suggested that institutional devices, that is, customized learning in the form of lifelong education, are needed to allow them to settle down and root in Korean society more stably along with existing educational contents and to continue their participation in learning programs in cooperation with community universities and related institutions after leaving the company. The representative direction of the research on North Korean defectors reconstructed from the perspective of lifelong education through this study can be defined as 'preparation of Korean society for unification'. Based on this, lifelong education needs to carry out a merging study with the residents of the two Koreas on the unification education, and the Ministry of Unification and its affiliated institutions, which are related ministries, propose that collaboration with lifelong education institutions can be carried out.

본 연구는 2000년 이후부터 2021년까지 북한이탈주민 관련 연구 동향을 파악 및 분석하고 영역별 주제어를 평생교육의 관점으로 재구성하고 향후 방향성을 도출하는데 목적이 있다. 분석결과 문헌연구가 가장 많았고 다음으로 질적 연구, 양적연구의 순으로 나타났다. 평생교육의 관점에서 연구내용을 들여다보면 북한이탈주민들이 가지는 교육에 대한 개념은 북한에서의 교육경험보다 하나원에서의 교육경험이 준거로 위치하고 있음을 발견할 수 있었다. 또한 북한이탈주민의 대부분이 탈북 전 한국사회에 대한 정보를 드라마나 유튜브 등의 미디어를 통해서 습득하였음을 알 수 있었다. 한국사회에서 북한이탈주민의 우선문제는 여전히 적응과 정착에 관한 내용으로 나타났으며, 북한이탈주민의 한국살이는 남북한 모든 주민에게‘먼저 온 통일’의 시험대라고 할 수 있다. 그러므로 첫 관문인 하나원은 기존의 교육내용과 함께 이들이 좀 더 안정적으로 한국사회에 정착하고 뿌리내릴 수 있도록 그리고 퇴소 후에도 지역사회 대학 및 관련기관들과 협력하여 학습프로그램 참여가 지속될 수 있는 제도적 장치 즉, 평생교육 형태의 맞춤형 학습이 필요함을 제언하고 있었다. 본 연구를 통해 평생교육의 관점에서 재구성한 북한이탈주민 관련 연구의 대표적인 방향성은‘통일을 대비한 한국사회의 준비’라고 정의를 내릴 수 있다. 이를 토대로 평생교육은 ‘통일교육’에 대하여 남북한 주민이 함께 하는 병합연구를 진행할 필요가 있으며, 관련부처인 통일부 및 산하기관은 평생교육기관들과의 협업이 진행될 수 있기를 제언 하고자 한다.
