Due to the development of digital technology, history education should also be changed from history education centered on past textbooks to experiential history education. It is time for students to develop high-quality historical content to communicate with other students and realize their historical imagination, away from simply acquiring historical knowledge using digital technology. In this article, we looked at how historical content is used in digital history textbooks, focusing on the history area of elementary social textbooks. As a result, there was a lot of uniform content even though it was biased toward the information delivery function and changed from state affairs to certified textbooks. Above all, the problem of developing digital historical content from the perspective of presentism has emerged. In order to improve this, suggestions were made for the use of digital history contents in history textbooks in terms of institutional and educational aspects. On the institutional side, it was proposed to expand technical support, prepare practical standards for verifying digital historical content, and recognize secondary copyrights of teachers. In addition, in terms of education, it was argued to create an environment for developing digital history contents that are friendly to teachers and to foster digital literacy for both teachers and students. Above all, it was suggested that students should be evaluated, including the ability to use digital history content in the evaluation. The expansion of digital history contents in digital textbooks will be an opportunity to increase the effectiveness of history education and strengthen the link between elementary, middle, and high school history education by shifting from knowledge and memorization-oriented history education to experience and cooperation-oriented.

디지털 기술의 발달로 인해 역사교육도 과거 교과서 중심의 역사교육 에서 체험형 역사교육으로 바뀌어야 한다. 이제는 단순히 학생들이 직접 디지털 기술을 활용하여 역사 지식을 습득하는 것에서 벗어나 다른 학생 들과 소통하고, 역사적 상상력을 실현할 양질의 역사콘텐츠 개발이 필요 한 시점이다. 이 글에서는 초등 사회교과서의 역사 영역을 중심으로 역사 콘텐츠가 디지털 역사 교과서에서 어떻게 사용되고 있는지 살펴보았다. 그 결과 정보전달 기능에 치우쳐 있고, 국정에서 검정교과서로 바뀌었는 데도 천편일률적인 내용이 많았다. 무엇보다도 현재주의 관점에서 디지 털 역사콘텐츠를 개발하고 있는 문제가 나타났다. 이를 개선하기 위해서 제도적 측면과 교육적 측면에서 역사교과서에서 디지털 역사콘텐츠 활용 을 위한 제언을 하였다. 제도적 측면에서는 기술적 지원을 확대하고, 디지 털 역사콘텐츠 검증을 위한 실질적인 기준 마련하며, 교사의 2차 저작권 을 인정하는 것을 제안하였다. 그리고 교육적 측면에서는 교사에게 친화 적인 디지털 역사콘텐츠 개발 환경을 조성할 것과 교사와 학생 모두 디지 털 리터러시의 함양할 것을 주장하였다. 무엇보다 평가에서 디지털 역사 콘텐츠 활용 능력을 포함하여 학생들을 평가해야 한다고 제언하였다. 디 지털교과서의 디지털 역사콘텐츠 확대는 지식, 암기 위주의 역사교육 (knowing history)에서 체험과 협동 중심의 역사교육(doing history)으로 전환 하여 역사교육의 효과성을 증대하고 초‧중‧고 역사교육의 연계성을 강화 하는 계기가 될 것이다.
