This essay seeks to explicate the purpose of the historical spirit contained in Chunqiuzuozhuan through a methodology of narrativism. In particular, Chunqiuzuozhuan relates historical stories of the Chunqiu (Spring and Autumn Period, c. 770-481 BCE) with an understanding of the Yi-li shaping its narrative method. In Chunqiuzuozhuan, the essential purpose of history is conveyed through the contents of the narrative. Therefore, many of the contents of the narrative are related to judgments about the outcome of a specific action. Foresight depends upon comprehending a process from prediction to judgement. The contents of the narrative are characterized by the providence of heaven, value-oriented behavior, and purposeful will. In Chunqiuzuozhuan, “Gua-yao-ci” of the Yijing, the causal relationships of a historical case are closely associated with the results of predictions in which value judgments are applied to historical cases. This has the purpose of capturing the Chunqiu spirit of historicity through the use of historical cases in the narrative. The subjective spirit aims at an integrated boundary between facts and values ​​in the intrinsic relationship between the sentences of the narrative and the events of the ancient case. Thus, by applying the Yi-li methodology of narrativism to fortune-telling, Chunqiuzuozhuan intends to reveal the combination of the judgements of fact, value, and morality in the historical stories of the Chunqiu period.

본고에서는 春秋學의 역사의식을 어떻게 이해할 것인가 하는 문제의식에서 출발한다. 춘추학은 역사의 진실성과 正統性 속에서 道義의 명분을 밝히려는 微言大義의 말로 요약된다. 그것은 서술의 역사에서 실재의 역사에 접근하여 역사정신과 그 지향성을 모색하려는 취지를 지닌다. 이러한 취지하에 『춘추좌전』의 史話에 주목하고 역사의 사실과 가치의 관계를 규명하는 문제를 논의하고자 한다. 춘추사화의 일부에서 주목할 만한 점은 역사적 사실과 가치의 연결고리로서 서법의 가치판단을 도입한 것이다. 이른바 춘추서법은 서사주의의 논법 중의 하나로서, 사실과 가치의 관계를 매듭짓는 데에 판단의 영역을 확보하는 것이다. 이는 역사콘텐츠의 차원에서 접근될 수 있다. 역사콘텐츠는 역사적 사례와 그 속의 특정 인물의 행위에 관해 시간의 因果的 추이에 따른 서사의 통일적 맥락화 속에서 사화의 역사이야기를 꾸려가는 것이다. 이 맥락화에는 삼중의 노선, 즉 義理의 해석, 敍事의 서술 및 史話의 구성이 있다. 즉 서술의 역사라는 프리즘을 통해 筮法에 대한 義理의 해석을 투과하여 춘추정신에 초점을 맞추어 역사콘텐츠의 투사면을 형성한다. 그 속에서 춘추의 역사정신은 非可逆的 물리적 시간의 한계를 넘어서 可逆的 관념적 시간의 흐름 속에 발휘되며 가상의 공간을 창조적으로 만들어가면서 시대정신의 자유를 폭넓게 수용할 수 있다.
