This study examined the motivation for the creation of Lee Kyu-bo's Sino-Korean poetry through the inner consciousness present in it. Several of his Sino-Korean pieces were written based on creative background and intention, and a number of studies have been accumulated. In this study, rather than paying attention to historical facts of the times related to each work, the author focused on the poet's conscious act of creating poetry itself. By examining his poetry, this study explored the poet’s perception of the essential attributes of life and the position poems played in that perception. Lee Kyu-bo regarded the world as a temporary residence and described life as ephemeral. Simultaneously, he was particularly sorry that life is finite and that time passes. Furthermore, he seemed to fully feel and enjoy every moment. He was aware of death every day and saw it as the state of oblivion. In his opinion, poetry could serve as a medium to overcome oblivion, that is, death. It is a medium that allows the moments of life to be recorded and conveyed, and the poet to be remembered beyond the limits of time and space. It can be said that this perception played a role in Kyu-bo's enthusiasm for the creation of poetry and his pride in his identity as a poet.

이 글은 이규보 한시에 나타난 내면 의식을 살핌으로써 창작의 동기에 대하여 고찰한 것이다. 그가 남긴 수 편의 한시 작품들은 각각의 창작 배경과 의도를 바탕 으로 쓰인 것이며, 그에 관한 선행 연구가 다수 축적되었다. 여기에서는 각 작품과 관련된 당대의 현실 상황이나 역사적 사실에 관심을 두기보다는, 시 창작이라는 행위 자체에 대한 시인의 의식에 주목해 보고자 하였다. 그가 삶의 본질적 속성에 대하여 어떠한 인식을 지니고 있었는지, 그 인식 안에서 시는 어떠한 입지를 점하 고 있었는지를 그의 작품을 통해 탐구해 보았다. 이규보는 세계를 임시 거처로 여 기며 삶을 덧없는 것이라 표현하였다. 그러면서도 인생이 유한하고 시간이 흘러간 다는 사실을 유달리 애석해하며 매 순간을 온전히 느끼고 즐기려는 모습을 보였다. 그는 일상적으로 죽음을 의식하고 있었으며, 그에게 죽음은 곧 잊힘의 상태와 같았다. 시는 잊힘, 곧 죽음을 극복하게 하는 매개의 역할을 할 수 있었다. 시는 삶의 순간들을 남기고 전할 수 있게 하며, 시공간적 한계를 넘어 시인이 기억되도록 하는 매체였다. 이규보가 시의 창작에 열성적이었으며 시인으로서의 정체성을 중요 하게 여겼던 데에는 이러한 인식이 작용하였다고 할 수 있다.
