The history of philosophy before Nietzsche pointed out the body as the source of evil or recognized it as the target of liquidation, which makes the soul dirty. Accordingly, the value of the body has not been appreciated for a very long time, and the body has been denounced as something to control and overcome. This understanding about the body changed as the center of thought has moved from God to man since modern times, and in Nietzsche, the existing thought of the body and mind begins to be subverted. This study would investigate an overview of the body in modern philosophy, including Nietzsche, Husserl and Merleau-Ponty and examine how such discourses are connected to movements in sports and what meaning they have in the specific situation of sports. Through this, this study would expand the rich experience of the body through sports activities to a discussion from a philosophical perspective, breaking away from the misunderstanding and prejudice that has considered the sporting body simply as a physical gross-motor activity.

인간은 사물로서 존재하는가 아니면 의식으로서 존재하는가. ‘나’ 를 지칭하는 것은 나의 몸인가 아니면 정신 혹은 영혼인가. 다소 진부할 수 있는 이러한 물음은 인간의 지난 역사를 관통하며 현재까지도 활발 한 논쟁이 이루어지고 있는 몸 철학의 중심 테제이다. 니체 이전의 철학 사에서는 몸을 악의 근원으로 지목하거나, 영혼을 더럽히는 청산의 대상 으로 인식하였다. 때문에 상당히 오랜 기간 몸은 그 가치를 인정받지 못 하였고, 육체는 다스리고 극복해야 하는 대상으로 폄하되었다. 본 연구 는 몸을 단순히 물질적인 대근육 활동으로 여겨왔던 체육학의 오랜 편 견에서 벗어나 움직임을 통한 몸의 경험을 주체성을 가진 ‘하나의 몸’인 개별자에게 어떠한 의미로 다가오는지 살펴보고자 한다. 나아가 조직적 문화를 중요시하던 체육계에서 개인의 주체성을 중요시하는 현 대 스포츠의 흐름에 맞춰, 필연적으로 대상이 될 수밖에 없었던 스포츠 가 가진 몸의 한계를 어떻게 극복할 수 있을지 알아보고자 한다.
