The purpose of this study is to compare the narrative of GangnamHongjeon with the aspect of the heroine, Gangnam Hong, and to find out the significance of how it is reorganized compared to the narrative of Okrumong. Gangnam Hongjeon was created in the 19th century as a derivative of Okrumong. a novel by Nam Yeong-ro in the 19th century. Until now, prior research on GangnamHongjeon has enabled a visual approach to the work, even if the number is not large, and is important in that it can grasp the main character’s consciousness. Therefore, in this paper, beyond the original Okrumong, we will reveal the multi-layered aspects of the narrative centered on the female hero Gangnam Hong in GangnamHongjeon through the reorganization of the narrative. This process is important in that it not only allows us to examine the differential effects of GangnamHongjeon through reorganization, but also provides an opportunity to closely examine the significance of Gangnam Hong’s existence differentiated from Okrumong. “GangnamHongjeon” has the character of reorganizing and reorganizing the narrative around the activities of female heroes in the number of numerous military stories in “Okrumong.” The narrative of “Okrumong” tends to be composed mainly of Yang Chang-gok, the male protagonist, because it shows a worldview centered on male families, even if female characters’ activities appear. However, “GangnamHongjeon” shows the process and appearance of Gangnam Hong’s establishment as a hero by reorganizing and organizing the narrative around the leading role of the heroine. Therefore, if we look at the narrative patterns of the reorganized GangnamHongjeon, which is distinct from the narrative of Okrumong, and reveal the effects of the narrative, we can examine in more detail the characteristics that only the narrative of GangnamHongjeon can show differentially.

본 연구는 <강남홍전>의 서사가 <옥루몽>의 서사와 비교하여 어떠한 방식으로 재 편되고 있는지 여주인공 강남홍의 양상과 함께 비교하여 그 방식을 살펴보고 의의를 찾아보는 것을 목적으로 한다. <강남홍전>은 19세기 남영로의 한문장편소설 작품인 <옥루몽>의 파생작으로 19세기 한글 활자본으로 창작되었다. 그간 <강남홍전>에 대한 선행연구는 개수는 많지 않더라도 작품에 대해 통시적인 접근을 가능하게 해주었으며, 주인공의 의식을 파악해 볼 수 있다는 점에서 중요성 을 지닌다 할 수 있겠다. 하지만 원작인 <옥루몽>에 비중을 둔 서사구조의 분석이 주를 이루고 있어 <강남홍전> 서사 자체에서 구현되고 있는 인물의 양상이나 특성 에 대한 부분은 세밀한 분석에까지 이르지 못했다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 원작인 <옥루몽>을 넘어 <강남홍전>에서 여성영웅 강남 홍을 통해 구현하고 있는 서사의 다층적인 측면들을 서사의 재편양상을 통해 밝혀 볼 것이다. 이러한 과정은 <강남홍전>이 재편을 통해 변별적으로 드러내고 있는 효과를 고찰할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 <옥루몽>과는 차별화된 강남홍의 존재의의를 짚어볼 수 있는 계기를 마련해 준다는 점에서 중요하다. <강남홍전>은 <옥루몽>의 번다한 군담의 횟수에서 여성영웅의 활약담을 중심으 로 서사를 재구성하고 재편한 성격을 가지고 있다. <옥루몽>의 서사는 여성 인물들 의 활약상이 나타난다고 하더라도 남성가문을 중심으로 세계관을 보여주기 때문에 남 성 주인공인 양창곡을 중심으로 구성되는 경향이 강하다. 하지만 <강남홍전>에서는 여주인공의 주동적인 역할을 중심으로 서사를 재편하여 구성함으로써 강남홍이 영웅으로 자리매김하는 과정과 그 모습을 보여준다. 따라서 <옥루몽> 서사와 구별되는 재편된 <강남홍전>의 서사 양상을 살펴보고 서사가 보여주는 효과를 밝혀본다면 <강남홍전>의 서사만이 변별적으로 보여줄 수 있는 특 성을 자세히 고찰할 수 있을 것이다.
