Yeats wrote four prayer poems based on the house, descendants, and old age. Resetting the second time in his life, marriage presented him with a home, a family, and a sense of stability. First of all, he purchased and repaired the Thoor Ballylee for his wife, which inspired lots of poetic imagination in the later poems. He wrote “A Prayer on Going into My House” in 1918, when he moved into the Ballylee Castle. And then he celebrated his daughter and son for their happiness and safety in “A Prayer for My Daughter”(1919) and “A Prayer for My Son”(1921). The prayer for his daughter was full of the virtues and bans for an ideal woman. Yeats as a father wished for the safety and health of his unknown, potential son. From youth, the category of ageing had been a consistent theme for him to meditate on. Though he was decrepit with time, he prayed for the identity as a prudent, ardent poet. It was in the prayer poems that Yeats revealed his human and genuine authenticity as a husband, a father and an ageing man.
