With the 4th industrial revolution, NBIC (Nano, Bio, Information Technology and Cognitive Science) has developed, enabling superintelligence and hyper-connectivity, and the artificial intelligence industry is developing. These technological advances indicate that they have reached the beginning of a future society that will enrich human life, but at the same time, a sense of crisis is followed by the loss of human dignity and the extinction of mankind. This sense of crisis suggests the possibility of a problem in human existence, and urges the establishment of the existing modern concept of human and the concept of ‘the human after that’. And the place where these discussions take place is posthumanism. Rapid posthumanism, which frequently appears in the SF genre and is widely known, conducts research to actively define posthuman to reach posthuman through a de-body that separates the mind and body through a technology called ‘technical singularity.’ On the other hand, critical posthumanism opposes the idea that the technology to separate the human mind and body is not only an illusion but also an ideal human being of traditional liberal humanism, and studies to define ‘posthuman’ because posthuman subjects will replace existing human subjects in the future. As such, posthumanism is actively discussing the separation of the body and the mind, the disposal of the body, and what the future posthuman is. This paper intends to study Kim Yeongha’s Farewell in a literary way for this discussion. In the story, Cheol-i, the main character, discovers the truth that he was a humanoid that Dr. Choi excluded and hid behind his identity through heterotopia, which erases all traces of space and raises objections. Face it. Also, in this process, Cheol loses his body by his will, experiences discomfort in a state of pure consciousness, and tries to reestablish the relationship between body and mind and his own identity. Therefore, in this paper, I would like to examine the spatiality and the embodiment of the body in Farewell in terms of creative techniques.

4차 산업혁명으로 NBIC(Nano, Bio, Information Technology and Cognitive Science) 가 발전하여 초지능·초연결이 가능해져 인공지능 산업이 발달하고 있다. 이러한 기술 발전은 인간의 삶을 윤택하게 만들 미래사회의 초입에 도달했 음을 알리고 있지만, 동시에 인간 존엄성 상실과 인류의 멸종이라는 위기의 식이 뒤따르고 있다. 이러한 위기의식은 인간 존립에 문제가 발생할 가능성 을 제시하고, 기존의 근대적 인간 개념과 ‘그 이후 인간’에 대한 개념 정립 을 촉구하고 있다. 그리고 이러한 논의가 진행되는 회장이 바로 포스트휴머 니즘이다. SF 장르에 자주 등장하여 널리 알려진 ‘급진적 포스트휴머니즘’은 ‘기술적 특이점’이란 기술을 통해 정신과 육체를 분리하는 탈육체를 통해 포스트 휴먼에 도달하여 영생을 도모하고자 포스트휴먼을 적극적으로 정의하고자 연구를 진행한다. 반면, 비판적 포스트휴머니즘은 인간의 정신과 육체를 분 리하는 기술은 환상일 뿐만 아니라 전통적 자유주의 휴머니즘의 이상적 인 간이라는 이데올로기를 확산함으로 반대하고, 앞으로 기존 인간 주체를 포 스트휴먼 주체가 대체할 것이므로 ‘포스트휴먼’을 정의하기 위해 연구하고 있다. 이렇듯 포스트휴머니즘은 육체와 정신의 분리성, 육체의 폐기와 앞으 로 도래할 포스트휴먼이란 무엇인가에 대한 활발한 논의를 진행하고 있다. 본고는 이러한 논의를 문학적으로 살필 수 있는 작품이 김영하의 『작별인사』라 보고 이를 연구하고자 한다. 작중 주인공 철이는 모든 공간의 흔적을 지워 이의를 제기하는 헤테로토피아를 통해 인간이라는 정체성 뒤에 최 박 사가 배제하고 숨겼던 휴머노이드였다는 진실을 발견하고, 달마의 분지에 서 진실을 마주하며 본질이 뒤흔들리는 위기를 마주한다. 또한 이 과정에서 철이는 타의에 의해 육체를 상실하며 순수한 의식의 상태에서 불쾌함을 경 험하며 육체와 정신의 관계, 본인의 정체성을 재확립하고자 노력한다. 그러 므로 본고는 『작별인사』를 창작기법 측면에서 공간성과 육체의 형상화를 살펴보고자 한다.
