This study identified the nature of objects through physical and chemical analysis of 28 whiteware pieces such as White porcelain, Gapbal, and Dochim excavated in Gwangju Usan-ri 4 and 9 and 14 material soil collected from Usan-ri 9, Gwangju. And confirmed material correlation between whiteware and whiteware-material soil. In the case of white porcelain, it was divided into four groups(W1∼4) according to the color and monochromaticity of the body, and two (M1-2) groups according to the Mullite peak intensity. Regardless of the kiln site, all of the high-middle-low quality white pocelain were identified, and and there was no significant difference in the overall composition. As a result of p artic le s ize analysis, most o f the material s oil was c omposed o f fine s and, s ilt, a nd clay. In particular, in the case of clay material soil, the main component and discriminant analysis results showed similar tendency to white porcelain pieces. Therefore, it was estimated that the white porcelain excavated in Usan-ri 9, Gwangju was manufactured using material soil collected from the adjacent klin site and the production techniques of Usan-ri No. 4 and No. 9 were similar, but there were some differences in materials.

본 연구는 광주 우산리 4호 및 9호 출토 백자와 갑발, 도침 등 도편 28점과 우산리 9호 내 공방지에서 수습된 원료 토양 14점을 대상으로 물리⋅화학적 분석을 통해 기물의 성격을 규명하고 도편 및 도편-원료 토양 간 재료학적 상관성을 확인하였다. 우산리 백자는 태토의 색상과 단색도에 따라 4개 그룹(W1∼4)과 뮬라이트(Mullite) 피크 강도에 따라 2개(M1∼2)그룹 으로 구분되었으며, 출토 가마터와 관계없이 양질-양조질-조질계가 모두 확인되었고, 전체적인 성분조성에 큰차이를 보이지 않았다. 공방지 수습 원료 토양의 입도분석 결과, 대부분 가는모래 와 실트, 점토로 구성되었으며, 특히 점토질 원료 토양은 주성분 및 판별분석에서 백자 도편과 유사한 경향을 보였다. 따라서, 광주 우산리 9호 출토 백자는 인접한 공방지에서 수습된 원료 토양을 이용하여 제작하였으며, 우산리 4호와 9호 출토 백자는 제작기술은 유사하나 재료의 차이가 일부 존재하는 것으로 추정하였다.
