With the aim of determining the trajectory of new Korea-China relations, this paper has conducted a thorough examination of news data concerning “Korea-China relations” that have been reported in the Korean media over a span of 30 years. This data has served as the foundation for predicting the course of future Korea-China relations. Through a topic modeling analysis, the paper has presented five major themes, with economic issues being found to account for the largest proportion of articles related to Korea-China relations. Notably, during the Park Geun-Hye government, news articles on this topic reached their highest frequency within the time series changes. This paper has further identified the key issues that emerged within these themes as ‘THAAD’, ‘MOU’, ‘exchange’, ‘FTA’, and ‘fine dust’, respectively. The time series graph of major keywords has revealed that issues pertaining to the political and diplomatic fields, particularly the "THAAD" issue, are anticipated to witness the greatest increase in the future. Therefore. this paper argues that it is necessary to effectively manage these issues in order to address any potential challenges that may arise in Korea-China relations.

본 논문은 새로운 한중관계의 방향을 설정하고 전망할 수 있는 기초자료로 활용하기 위하여 지난 30여 년의 시간 동안 한국 언론매체에서 나타난 ‘한중관계’ 관련 뉴스 빅데이터를 수집하여 분석했다. 토픽 모델링 분석으로 5개의 토픽을 제시하였고, 한중관계와 관련하여 경제 분야의 이슈가 가장 많은 비중을 차지함을 확인하였다. 시계열 변화에서 한중관계 관련 뉴스 기사는 박근혜 정부 시기에 가장 많이 등장한 것으로 나타났다. 5개의 토픽에서 나타난 주요 이슈는 각각 ‘사드(THAAD)’, ‘MOU’, ‘교류’, ‘FTA’, ‘미세먼지’다. 특히, 주요 키워드의 시계열 변화 그래프에서 ‘사드’ 문제와 같이 정치·외교 분야의 이슈가 향후 가장 많이 증가할 것으로 나타나, 한중관계에서 발생할 수 있는 잠재적 문제들을 해결하기 위해서는 이러한 문제에 대한 효과적 관리가 필요해 보인다.
