Using topic modeling and the bigram network analysis, this study identified main research keywords and topics related to the integration of the early childhood education and care (ECEC). The paper analyzed 148 abstracts of articles published from January 2004 to August 2022 in major Korean academic journals. The keywords analysis indicates that research on the integration of the ECEC revolves around various perspectives, such as the integrations of an evaluation system, of the teacher training process, and of different needs of infants and children. Five topics were extracted from the LDA(Latent Dirichlet Allocation) topic modeling: the implications drawn from foreign ECEC integration policies; the comparison of stakeholders’ perceptions and analysis of the statuses and functions of concerned institutions; the improvement of teacher qualification and training system in view of ECEC integration; the purpose, evaluation criteria, subjects, and contents of the ECEC integration; and the integration process and its governmental implementation. The bigram network analysis showed that the ECEC integration has been more actively discussed from the perspectives of early childhood education than childcare, and discussions on infants and children are conducted from different perspectives. To achieve the objectives of the integration of ECEC, the government should take into account stakeholders’ opinions and meaningful findings from related research.

본 연구는 2004년 1월부터 2022년 8월까지 발행된 유·보통합 관련 학술논문 148개의 국문 초록을 대상으로 텍스트 마이닝(Text Mining) 기법 중 토픽 모델링과 bigram 네트워크 분석 을 적용하여 유·보통합 연구의 주요 키워드와 주제를 살펴보고, 시기에 따른 연구 주제의 변 화 및 시사점에 관해 논의하였다. 유·보통합 연구의 핵심 키워드를 분석한 결과, 평가체계의 통합, 교사 양성과정의 통합, 영유아 입장에서의 통합 등 다양한 관점에서 유·보통합에 대한 논의가 이루어진 것을 확인할 수 있었다. LDA 토픽 모델링을 적용하여 주요 토픽을 추출한 결과, [1] 해외 유·보통합 정책 방향과 시사점, [2] 이해당사자의 인식 비교 및 각 기관의 상황 과 기능 분석, [3] 유·보통합에 따른 교사 자격 및 양성체제 개선, [4] 유·보통합의 목적과 평 가 기준, 대상, 내용에 대한 논의, [5] 유·보통합 과정에 대한 고찰과 정부 부처의 추진과제 등 총 5개의 토픽을 중심으로 논의가 전개되고 있음을 알 수 있었다. bigram 네트워크 분석 결과, 유·보통합 관련 논의는 상대적으로 보육보다는 유아교육과 관련하여 활발히 이루어지고 있으며, 유아에 대한 논의와 영아에 대한 논의가 다소 다른 관점에서 이루어지고 있음을 확 인할 수 있었다. 이와 같은 분석 결과를 바탕으로, 유·보통합의 근본적인 취지와 목적을 달성 하기 위해 정책 추진 시 고려해야 할 점에 관해 논의하였다.
