This study aims to shed light on the trends of comparative studies on modern Korean and Chinese literature conducted in Korea since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, and to explore any possible developments in the field of comparative studies based on such trends. For the purpose of this paper, comparative studies on modern Korean and Chinese literature published in Korea over the last thirty years has been sourced, such as doctoral dissertations, articles published in academic journals (Studies of Chinese & Korean Humanities), and books. After categorizing these texts, this paper analyzed the trends of research by year as well as the characteristics of research topics and methodologies. In the case of doctoral dissertations, I focused on analyzing writer, awarding institution, trend of dissertation publication by year, fields of research, commonly studied authors and subjects, and perspectives of research. In the case of the articles published in academic journals, I narrowed down the scope of the study to the articles published in Studies of Chinese & Korean Humanities, due to the huge volume of data. Factors such as informations on individual researchers, number of published articles in yearly basis, the most often mentioned group of authors in comparative sense, and characteristics of research theme have been examined under this category. Last but not least, I complied relevant academic publications in a book form, and analyzed them based on authors, trends by period, and contents. As a result of this study, the following points have been acknowledged as limitations. First, the object of comparative studies on modern korean and Chinese literature is limited to few particular authors. Second, most comparative studies tend to focus on similarities at a surface level or examine direct/indirect relationship of influence, and therefore hardly lead to in-depth level of comparative research. The overflow of one-off studies instead of follow-up studies in series also adds up to the limitation of current research field. In conclusion, comparative studies between modern Korean and Chinese literature should broaden its national perspective to a global stance, tackling new, universal acknowledgments. Such expansion of critical perspective will allow new space for an intellectual practice, seeking sense of solidarity.

이 연구는 한중수교 이후 한국에서 진행된 한중현대문학 비교연구의 연구동향을 파악하고, 이를 바탕으로 한중현대문학 비교연구의 발전 방향을 모색하는 데 목표가 있다. 이를 위해 지난 30년간 한국 내에서 한중현대문학 비교연구를 수행한 학위논문, 학술지 논문(『한중인문학연구』), 단행본을 목록화하고, 연도별 연구동향과 연구주제 및 연구방법상의 특징을 분석하였다. 박사학위논문의 경우, 저자 및 수여기관, 연도별 논문 발표 추세, 연구분야, 주요 비교 대상작가 및 주제, 연구시각을 분석하였다. 학술지 논문의 경우, 분석자료의 방대함으로 인해 『한중인문학연구』만을 분석대상으로 특정하고, 연구자 분포, 연간 논문 게재 추이, 주요 비교대상 작가군 및 연구주제의 특징적인 면을 분석하였다. 단행본의 경우, 저자, 시기별 추이, 내용 등을 중심으로 분석하였다. 이들 연구성과를 분석한 결과, 연구대상이 특정작가에 한정되어 있다는 점, 표면적 유사성만을 초점화하거나 직간접적 영향관계를 규명하는 연구가 주로 진행됨에 따라 심도 있는 비교연구가 진행되지 못했다는 점, 연구의 지속성이 부재하고 일회적인 단발성 연구가 많다는 점이 한계로 파악되었다. 향후 양국간 비교의 희망은 일국적 시각으로 확보하기 어려운 새로운 인식들을 발견하고, 이 발견의 과정에서 연대의식을 찾아가는 지적 실천의 장을 확보해 나가는 데 있음을 강조하였다.
