The purpose of this study is to predict how the environment surrounding martial arts will change in the future society, and to suggest a direction for martial arts that fits the changed environment. In the future society, which can be expressed as a hyper-complex society, the environment surrounding martial arts is expected to become highly complex in social, factual and temporal dimension. In other words, different people in age, occupation, gender, etc., with different motives and purposes, are expected to engage in martial arts within the framework of different temporal associations. If martial arts do not respond appropriately to such environmental changes, their survival will be greatly threatened. Martial arts must maintain an open attitude to the environment in order to increase its chances of survival, and at the same time, it must strive to increase its internal complexity. If the internal complexity increases through the openness of the environment, the inclusion scale of martial arts will be expanded and the possibility of survival of martial arts will increase.

본 연구의 목적은 무예를 둘러싸고 있는 환경이 미래에 어떻게 변화 하게 될지 예측하고, 변화된 환경에서 무예의 존속 가능성을 높여주는 조건을 모색하는 것이다. 초복잡성 사회로 표현할 수 있는 미래 사회에 서 무예를 둘러싼 환경은 사회, 사안, 시간 세 가지 차원에서 고도로 복 잡해질 것으로 전망된다. 즉, 나이, 직업, 성별 등에서 서로 다른 사람들 이, 서로 다른 동기와 목적을 갖고, 서로 다른 시간 연관의 틀 내에서 무 예와 관련을 맺을 것으로 전망된다. 무예가 이와 같은 변화에 적절하게 대처하지 못한다면, 그 존속은 크게 위협받게 될 것이다. 무예는 존속 가능성을 높이기 위해 환경에 개방적인 태도를 견지해야만 하며, 동시에 내부 복잡성을 높이기 위해 노력해야만 한다. 환경 개방성을 통해 높은 내부 복잡성을 갖추게 되면, 무예의 포함 규모가 확대되어 무예의 존속 가능성이 제고될 것이다.
