Hangeul and Jeongganbo have a common feature: the spatial frame containing linguistic and musical information, respectively, is made up of squares. This spatial characteristic has the advantage of making it easy to change the writing direction. This study aims to provide a teaching and learning plan in connection with the directionality of Hangeul so that 5th graders of elementary school can become familiar with the vertical format Jeongganbo. To this end, it examined the function of the squares common to Hangeul and Jeongganbo and the process of change in the directionality of layers of squares and identified the learning contents related to Jeongganbo and the form of Jeongganbo presented in the 2015 revised elementary school music textbook. Then, the study presented a teaching and learning plan to familiarize students with the vertical format Jeongganbo newly emerged from the 5th grade of elementary school. The teaching plan designed over a total of 2 sessions placed emphasis on preparing the foundation for ultimately adapting to the transition from the horizontal Jeongganbo to the vertical Jeongganbo through group activities in which students naturally learn various directionality of Hangeul. It is expected that this teaching and learning plan, which has a nature of an integrated curriculum, will expand the breadth of students' musical thinking and experience in elementary school music education and be widely used as educational materials to increase the learning effect on connected subjects.

한글과 정간보는 각각 언어적 정보와 음악적 정보를 담고 있는 공간적 틀이 네모꼴로 이루 어져 있다는 공통점을 갖고 있으며, 이러한 공간적 특성은 기록 방향의 전환을 용이하게 만 드는 장점을 지니고 있다. 본 연구는 초등학교 5학년을 대상으로 학생들이 세로형 정간보에 친숙해질 수 있도록 한글 기록 방향과 연계한 교수ㆍ학습 지도 방안을 제공하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 한글과 정간보에 공통적으로 내재해 있는 네모꼴의 기능과 네모꼴 층위 기 록 방향의 변천 과정을 살펴보고, 2015 개정 초등학교 음악 교과서에 제시되어 있는 정간보 관련 학습내용 및 정간보의 형태를 학년별로 파악한 후, 초등학교 5학년부터 새롭게 등장하 는 세로형 정간보에 친숙해질 수 있는 교수ㆍ학습 지도안을 제시하였다. 총 2차시에 걸쳐 구상된 지도안은 한글의 다양한 기록 방향을 자연스럽게 습득할 수 있는 모둠 활동을 통해 궁극적으로 가로형 정간보에서 세로형 정간보로의 전환에 적응시키기 위한 토대 마련에 중 점을 두었다. 일종의 통합 교과적 성격을 지닌 이 교수ㆍ학습 지도 방안이 초등 음악의 교육 현장에서 학생들의 음악적 사유와 경험의 폭을 확장시키고, 연계 과목에 대한 학습 효과를 높이기 위한 교육 자료로 폭넓게 활용되기를 기대한다.
