The purpose of this study was to understand the educational meaning and value of ceramics activities for children and adolescents. From domestic researches we analyzed the characteristics of ceramics activities in childhood and adolescence educationally. In addition, in order to compare the educational value pursued by children and adolescents with disabilities and those without disabilities, we attempted to reanalyze the prior studies by classifying the domains. For this purpose, we searched key words such as 'ceramic art + education(Kor.)', 'clay + education(Kor.)' and 'clay + education(Eng.)' and added key words such as children, adolescents and disabilities using major domestic databases. The publication period of theses were limited to theses after 2001, and the 54 theses extracted through this were first classified by publication year and research subject (disability presence, developmental stage), and then research type (major field, research methodology), program characteristics (used materials), and program's educational performance were analyzed. As a result of analyzing the research trends, the subjects of the study were more research on children and adolescents without disabilities than those with disabilities. As for the material, clay single material had a higher frequency of utilization than composite material. The performance of the ceramics activities was different between children and adolescents with disabilities and those without disabilities. In the case of children and adolescents with disabilities, many studies focused on self-growth and physical development, whereas for those without disabilities the ratio of researches related to development of cognitive and creative abilities, improvement of aesthetic sensibility and expressive power, and sociality were high.

본 연구는 도예활동을 교육적으로 활용한 국내 연구를 통해 아동·청소년기 도예활동의 특성을 분 석함으로써 아동·청소년에게 미치는 도예활동의 교육적 의미와 가치를 파악하는데 연구의 목적을 두 었다. 또한 장애 아동·청소년과 비장애 아동·청소년 도예활동이 추구하는 교육적 가치를 비교하기 위해 영역을 분류하여 재분석을 시도하였다. 이를 위해 국내의 주요 데이터베이스를 이용하여, ‘도예+ 교육’, ‘점토+교육’ 및 ‘clay+education’ 등의 핵심어와 아동, 청소년, 장애 등의 핵심어를 추가하 여 검색하였다. 논문 게재 시기는 2001년 이후의 논문으로 한정하였고 이를 통해 추출된 54편의 연구 물을 발행연도와 연구대상(장애유무, 발달단계)으로 구분한 후, 연구유형(전공분야, 연구방법론), 프로그 램특성 및 교육적 성과에 대한 경향성을 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 장애 아동·청소년에 비해 비장애 아 동·청소년에 대한 연구가 많은 것으로 나타났고, 연구방법론은 양적 연구가 높게 나타났다, 활용재료 는 점토단일재료 활용이 복합재료 활용보다 높게 나타났다. 도예활동을 통한 교육적 성과는 장애 아 동·청소년과 비장애 아동·청소년 간 다르게 나타났는데, 장애 아동·청소년의 경우, 자아성장과 신 체발달을 주제로 한 연구가 많은 반면, 비장애 아동·청소년은 인지·창의성발달, 미적 감성·표현력향상, 사회성 관련 연구 비율이 높게 나타났다.
