This study examines the activities conducted by the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) after the Korean War. In the light of this, the paper proposes the role that the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification, as a faith-based organization (FBO), can play in the peacebuilding process after the end of the Russo-Ukrainian War. Results obtained were as follows: First, FFWPU should concentrate on its peacebuilding role rather than its missionary calling. Second, FFWPU should adopt a role that focuses on the recovery of both the individual and the family by focusing on relief projects at the family level. Third, FFWPU should play an educational role to empower victims with the capacity to get back on their feet. Finally, it should play an exemplary role by providing people with the full benefits of its services irrespective of race or religion. FFWPU should undertake the following projects to fulfill such roles: relief projects to restore family communities centered on children and widows, education projects to assist war victims in overcoming their trauma and living in hope, peace projects for the promotion of harmony between religions, as well as dialogue and cooperation with political leaders.

본 연구는 러시아·우크라이나 전쟁 종식 이후 평화구축을 위한 세계평화통일가정연합 FBO의 역할을 제안하기 위해 한국전쟁 이후 메노나이트중앙위원회(MCC)가 펼친 활동을 주 목하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 세계평화통일가정연합 FBO는 먼저, 선교가 목적이 아닌 평화구축을 위한 역할에 집중해야 한다. 둘째, 가정 단위의 구제사업을 중심적으로 펼쳐 개인뿐 아니라 가정의 회복을 위한 역할 을 담당해야 한다. 셋째, 자립 능력을 함양할 수 있도록 교육적 역할을 담당해야 한다. 넷째, 초 인종·초종교적 차원에서 모든 사람에게 제한 없이 혜택이 갈 수 있는 모델적 역할을 해야 한다. 이러한 역할을 수행하기 위해 어린이와 미망인을 중심으로 한 가족공동체 회복을 위한 구제 사업, 전쟁의 후유증을 이겨내고 희망의 삶으로 이끌 수 있는 교육사업, 종단 간 화해와 화합, 그리고 정치지도자들의 대화와 협력을 위한 평화사업 등에 집중해야 함을 제안하였다.
