This research is a study on the current status analysis and revitalization plans of performing arts in the northern Chungcheong region. The scope of the study is limited to the northern Chungcheong region, and the subject of the study is centered on theatre among the performing arts. As for the progress of research, starting with the 'Culture & Arts Yearbook' (2015-2020), the ‘Annual Report’ (2017, 2019, 2020) of the Chungbuk Cultural Foundation was analyzed. Finally, based on the above analysis, the problems were identified, and solutions and revitalization plans were presented. In the conclusion, it is summarized as follows. First, it is a plan for the problem of performing arts personnel. 1) It is necessary to retrain the current performing arts personnel and attract excellent talents. 2) While expanding exchanges between departments of theatre and film in the northern Chungcheong region and local theatrical people, new associations and groups should be established. 3) It is necessary to increase the benefits for young theatrical people and organizations and actively attract them. Second, it is a plan for supporting performing arts groups and artists. 1) The scale of subsidies for creative groups and individual artists should be expanded and a continuous support system established. 2) Companies based in the northern Chungcheong region should actively support art organizations by establishing corporate culture foundations. Third, it is a plan for service for the audience. 1) The northern Chungcheong-type audience development is needed. 2) The role of the small theater as a creative base space should be expanded. 3) Art administration should be specialized. Fourth, it is a plan for organizations and performance events that will represent the northern Chungcheong region. 1) A provincial theatre company in the northern Chungcheong must be established. 2) An international performance event that can represent the northern Chungcheong region must be created.

이 연구는 충북지역 공연예술의 현황분석을 통해 제도와 공연 현장의 문제점을 파악하고, 이에 대한 해결 및 활성화 방안에 대해 연구이다. 연구범위는 충북지역에 한하며, 연구 대상은 공연예술 중 연극을 중심으로 한다. 연구방법은 ‘문예연감’(2015년 ~ 2020년)을 통해 먼저 전국을 기준으로 충북지역과 중앙의 공연예술 현황을 비교 분석한 이후, 충북지역 창작초연과 재공연의 현황을 세부적으로 분석함으로써 공연예술계에서 충북지역 공연예술의 위치를 확인한다. 이후 충북문화재단의 ‘연차보고서’(2017년, 2019년, 2020년)를 통해 충북지역 내에서 공연예술의 분야별 현황을 분석한다. 마지막으로 위의 분석을 바탕으로 충북지역 공연예술 제도와 공연 현장의 문제점을 파악하고 이에 대한 해결 및 활성화 방안을 제시한다. 결론에서는 크게 4가지 문제로 정리한 후 이에 대한 10가지 세부 사항으로 연구를 요약하면서 다음과 같이 정리한다. 첫 번째, 공연예술인력 문제에 대한 방안이다. 1) 현재의 공연예술인력을 재교육하고 우수 인재를 유치해야 한다. 2) 충북지역의 연극영화학과와 지역 연극인들과의 교류를 확대하면서 이에 대한 새로운 협회 및 단체를 설립해야 한다. 3) 젊은 연극인 및 단체에 대한 혜택을 늘리고 적극적인 유치가 필요하다. 두 번째, 공연예술 단체 및 예술가 지원에 대한 방안이다. 1) 창작단체와 예술가 개인에 대한 지원금 규모 확대 및 지속적인 지원체제를 확립해야 한다. 2) 충북지역을 연고로 하는 기업들이 기업문화재단을 설립하여 예술단체를 적극적으로 후원해야 한다. 세 번째, 관객을 위한 서비스에 대한 방안이다. 1) 충북형 관객개발이 필요하다. 2) 창작거점공간으로써 소극장의 역할을 확대해야 한다. 3) 예술행정을 전문화 시켜야 한다. 네 번째, 충북을 대표할 단체 및 공연행사에 대한 방안이다. 1) 충북 도립극단을 설립해야 한다. 2) 충북을 대표할 만한 국제 공연행사를 만들어야 한다.
