This study conducted an in-depth qualitative investigation of the significance of participation experience in an art therapy program from the perspective of adolescents with a conditional suspension of prosecution. A total of nine adolescents with conditional prosecution suspension voluntarily participated. Data were collected via focus group interviews (FGI) and individual in-depth interviews which were systematically analyzed using thematic analysis and constant comparative method for a detailed understanding of the adolescents’ experiences. The results were categorized into 16 minor themes and five main themes: which are ‘strangers, unfamiliar program,’ ‘gradually immersive program,’ ‘programs that told me I am not alone,’ ‘program that helped me to overcome painful memories,’ and ‘programs that led me to broader and upright values.’ In conclusion, this study suggested vitalizing art therapy programs with the purpose of guidance and protection of adolescents with conditional prosecution suspension, from the perspective of correctional welfare regarding session contents, operator management strategies, and communication plans among members.

이 연구에서는 조건부 기소유예 청소년 당사자의 시각에서 미술치료 프로그램 참여 경험의 의미를 심도 있게 밝히고자 질적 연구방법을 토대로 연구주제에 접 근했다. 이를 위하여 자발적으로 연구참여에 동의한 조건부 기소유예 청소년 총 9명과 초점집단면담 및 개별심층면담을 실시하여 자료를 수집했고, 이들의 경험을 자세히 이해하고자 주제분석방법과 지속적 비교방법을 적용하여 체계적으로 자료분석을 했다. 연구결과는 소주제 16개와 대주제 5개로 밝혀졌으며, 대주제는 ‘낯선 사람들, 낯선 프로그램’, ‘갈수록 빠져드는 프로그램’, ‘혼자가 아님을 알게 한 프로그램’, ‘괴로운 기억 떨쳐내도록 도운 프로그램’, ‘넓고 바른 가치관으로 이 끈 프로그램’과 같았다. 결론적으로, 연구결과에 기반을 두어 조건부 기소유예 청 소년 선도보호 목적의 미술치료 프로그램 활성화를 위해서 회기 내용 보완, 운영 자 관리 전략, 구성원 간 소통 방안 등에 대해 교정복지 측면에서 제언했다.
