In this paper, focusing on the case of the Department of Creative Writing and Media Studies at Korea University, the process of change in the Department of Creative Writing was examined, and measures to improve educational goals and methods were sought. Since its name was changed to the Department of Creative Writing and Media Studies in 2007, the Department of Department of Creative Writing and Media Studies at Korea University has pursued learner-centered educational ideology and curriculum. Therefore it aims to cultivate creative talents with media convergence capabilities in addition to the education of literary experts unique to the Department of Creative Writing. The demand for the curriculum and comparison program was analyzed by referring to the recently conducted survey and advisors’ opinions to understand learners’ satisfaction with this change of direction and seek improvement measures. As a result of examining the satisfaction of students with the curriculum, the satisfaction with the curriculum and lectures was high, while the satisfaction with the number and diversity of major subjects was relatively low. Most of the subjects that students wanted to establish were related to media convergence ability, so the development of various related subjects was required. Through the graduates’ surveys, it was confirmed that while faithfully carrying out the basic education of the Department of Creative Writing, practical subjects that can be fused with a new media environment or related to employment should be developed. In addition to the curriculum, the irregular curriculum are important for the autonomous development of each learner. It is necessary to develop quality programs more systematically by referring to programs that are highly responsive to students or new programs requested by graduates. Through the advice of expert advisors conducted with the survey, it was confirmed that consistent educational goals that could be the center of creative education should be set and educational measures should be sought. It is important to open a course that meets the needs of students, but it was found that we should focus on our educational capabilities by keeping the essence of creative education rather than reacting too much with the times.

이 논문에서는 고려대 미디어문예창작학과의 사례를 중심으로 문예창작학과의 변화과정을 살펴보고 교육목표와 방법의 개선책을 모색해본다. 2007년 미디어문예창작학과로 명칭 변경한 것을 기점으로 고려대 미디어문예창작학과는 학습자 중심의 교육이념과 교육과정을 추구해왔다. 따라서 문예창작학과 고유의 문학 전문가 교육에 더해 미디어 융합 능력을 갖춘 창의적 인재 양성을 목표로 한다. 이와 같은 방향 전환에 대한 학습자들의 만족도를 파악하고 개선책을 모색하기 위해 최근 실시했던 설문조사와 자문위원 의견을 참조하여 교육과정과 비교과 프로그램에 대한 요구를 분석해본다. 교육과정에 대한 재학생들의 만족도를 조사한 결과 교육과정과 강의에 대한 만족도가 높게 나타난 것에 비해 전공교과목의 개설 수와 다양성에 대한 만족도는 상대적으로 낮은 것으로 나타난다. 학생들이 신설을 원하는 교과목은 대부분 미디어 융합 능력과 관련되는 것이어서 이와 관련된 다양한 교과의 개발이 요구된다. 졸업생들의 설문을 통해서는 문예창작학과의 기본 교육을 충실하게 수행하면서, 새로운 미디어 환경과 융합할 수 있는 교과나 취업과 연계되는 실용적인 교과를 개발해야 한다는 사실을 확인할 수 있다. 교과과정 외에 비교과과정 프로그램은 학습자 개개인의 자율적인 역량 개발을 위해 긴요하다. 재학생들의 호응도가 높은 프로그램이나 졸업생들이 요구한 새로운 프로그램들을 참조하여 양질의 프로그램을 더 체계적으로 개발할 필요가 있다. 설문조사와 함께 실시한 전문가 자문위원들의 자문을 통해서는 창작교육의 구심점이 될 만한 일관성 있는 교육목표를 설정하고 이에 부합하는 교육 방안을 모색해야 한다는 것을 확인할 수 있다. 학생들의 요구를 반영한 교과목 개설도 중요하지만 지나치게 시류에 따라 반응하는 것보다는 창작교육의 본령을 지키며 교육 역량을 집중해나가야 한다. 이상의 설문조사 결과와 요구 분석을 통해 학습자 중심의 교육을 지향하는 고려대 미디어문예창작학과의 교육이념을 지켜가며 기본적인 창작교육을 바탕으로 새로운 미디어 환경에서 학습자의 창의력을 극대화할 수 있는 교육과정을 효율적으로 개발해나가야 한다는 것을 확인할 수 있다.
