The purpose of this study is to reinterpret Yeats’s later poem “A Dialogue of Self and Soul” from Nietzsche’s philosophical perspectives. First of all, I investigate how the two terms, Ego and Self, were used in the titles of the papers, theses, and dissertations on RISS and show the statistical data of their use of them. Then, I examine the differences in meaning between the two terms from the psychological aspects of Jung and Freud, and find out what thoughts Nietzsche has regarding the terms such as Self, Ego, and Soul. Finally, I reinterpret “A Dialogue of Self and Soul” based on Nietzsche’s philosophical perspectives and show the messages Yeats wants to deliver to the readers throughout this poem.

논문은 예이츠의 후기 시 ｢자아와 영혼의 대화｣를 니체의 관점에서 재해석 하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 우선, RISS에 발표된 국내 논문의 제목에 자아(Ego)와 자기(Self)란 용어가 어떻게 사용되는 지를 통계학적으로 고찰한다. 그 다음에 융과 프로이트의 심리학적 측면에서 이 두 개념은 어떠한 차이점이 있는지 살펴 본 후에 니체가 『차라투스트라는 이렇게 말했다』에서 자아와 자기, 그리고 영혼에 대해서 어떠한 생각을 가지고 있었는지에 대해 고찰 한다. 마지막으로, 이 시의 1부와 2부 각 연에 반영된 니체의 사상에 대해 『차라투스트라는 이렇게 말했다』를 중심으로 심층 분석한다.
