The identity of existence is contained in an urge to grow and having grown to burst forth, envelope, and become part and parcel of the Supreme Consciousness. Nevertheless, such an effort anticipates and presupposes decidedly a strong and resolute will that would enable one to conquer and overcome the contradictions and divisions which the illustrated experience of the world of appearance brings about. Upanisads expound such a view of the matter in the form of an Absolute that thrives on non-duality and duality. The world in which we live is a consequence of the creative instinct and creative will of the same Absolute. Thus there is a beginning that is precisely the world itself; yet there is the Supreme end and the movement or progress from beginning to end has obvious difficulties in as much as sometimes it is in the manner of presence, and, on some other occasions, it is accomplished in the confirmed absence. To that extent, there are the states of persistence, endurance, speculation, meditation, and the like. In the artistry of Samuel Beckett, such situations find extraordinarily brilliant expressions in that all through his novels and dramas the characters, situations, actions, events, and relations thrive on the contradictions and multiplicities afforded by this world. In the next place, the characters are seen to be overwhelmed and at that, they seek relief in the beyond which is absent. On such an account, the conclusion is brought to the recognition that apparent is contradicted by real, and real is rendered extensive by the necessity of comprehension. It is now a well-thought-out contention that Upanisads prepare the groundwork for such a situation and Beckett goes on to give an effect to each such framework of conviction.
