This study empirically analyzed the relationship between Co-CEOs and labor investment efficiency, and additionally examined the relationship between Co-CEOs and labor investment efficiency depending on whether they belong to large business conglomerates. The analysis period is from 2011 to 2019, and companies listed on KOSPI were analyzed. The analysis results of this study are as follows. First, firms with Co-CEOs structure had more efficient labor investment than those with a sole CEO structure. Second, the Co-CEOs structure and labor investment efficiency according to whether they belong to large business conglomerates showed a positive direction. In other words, the positive correlation between Co-CEOs structure and labor investment efficiency was strengthened as the firms belonging to large business conglomerates increased. This is an empirical result that shows that the Co-CEOs structure is working better as a control mechanism that can increase labor investment efficiency in large business conglomerates. This study is meaningful in that it directly examined how the Co-CEOs structure affected the labor investment efficiency. Also, it is expected to provide useful implications to capital market participants by verifying that there may be differences in the relationship between the Co-CEOs structure and labor investment efficiency depending on whether they belong to large business conglomerates.

본 연구에서는 공동경영자와 노동투자효율성의 관계를 실증분석하고, 추가적으로 대규모기업집단 소속여부에 따른 공동경영자와 노동투자효율성의 관련성을 살펴보았다. 분석기간은 2011년부터 2019년까지이고 유가증권상장기업을 분석대상으로 하였다. 본 연구의 검증결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 공동경영자 구조인 기업은 단독경영자 구조인 기업에 비해 노동투자가 효율적이었다. 둘째, 대규모기업집단 소속여부에 따른 공동경영자 구조와 노동투자 효율성은 양의 방향성을 보였다. 즉, 공동경영자 구조와 노동투자효율성의 양의 관련성은 대규모기 업집단에 속한 기업일수록 강화되었다. 이는 대규모기업집단에서 공동경영자 구조는 노동투자효율 성을 높일 수 있는 통제메커니즘으로 더 잘 작동하고 있음을 보여주는 실증결과이다. 본 연구는 공동경영자 구조가 노동의 투자효율성에 어떤 영향을 미쳤는 지를 직접적으로 살펴보 았다는데 의의가 있다. 또한 대규모기업집단 소속여부에 따른 공동경영자 구조와 노동투자효율성의 관련성에 차이가 존재할 수 있음을 검증함으로써 자본시장 참여자들에게 유용한 시사점을 제공할 것으로 판단된다.
