Recently, North Korea has continued to launch long-range missiles, increasing the intensity of its provocations. Since nuclear weapons pose a threat not only on the Korean Peninsula but also on a global level, North Korea's nuclear development and long-range missile launches have heightened anxiety and concerns on the Korean Peninsula, Northeast Asia and the international community. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to analyze the threat of North Korea's nuclear power and to analyze an evaluate what South Korea has promoted in response to it, focusing on international political theory, and to present the direction of future response. In the scope and method of the study, a comparative analysis method was applied to analyze and evaluate the purpose of North Korea's nuclear development and the corresponding response measures in terms of realism, liberalism, and constructivism of international political theory. As a result of the study, it was confirmed that Korea's response measures have their own achievements and weaknesses in three aspects: realism, liberalism, and constructivism. Therefore, the direction of development of North Korea's nuclear power should be promoted in both directions to guarantee national interests in terms of realism, sustain cooperation and consensus in terms of liberalism, restore theidentity of the Korean people, guarantee Korea's vital national interests, and ease tensions on the Korean Peninsula. In the future, the Korean government will continue to promote the guarantee of Korea's vital national interests and easing tensions on the Korean Peninsula. In response to North Korea's nuclear power, we look forward to further research and developed response direction centered on international political theory.

최근 들어 북한은 장거리 미사일 발사를 계속하며 도발의 강도를 높이고 있다. 핵무기는 한반도뿐만 아니라 전 지구적 차원에서 위협이 되므로 북한의 핵 개발과 장거리 미사일 발 사는 한반도, 동북아 및 국제사회의 불안과 우려를 증폭시키고 있다. 따라서 본 논문의 목적은 북한의 핵전력의 위협을 분석하고 이에 대응하여 한국이 추진한 사항을 국제정치이론을 중심으로 분석 및 평가하여 향후 대응의 발전방향을 제시하는 데 있 다. 연구 범위와 방법으로 북한 핵 개발의 목적과 이에 따른 한국의 대응조치를 국제정치이론 의 현실주의와 자유주의 및 구성주의 면에서 분석 및 평가하는 비교분석 방법을 적용하였다. 연구 결과 현실주의와 자유주의 및 구성주의 세가지 면에서 한국의 대응 조치는 나름대로 성과와 취약점이 내재되어 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 따라서 북한 핵전력에 대응한 발전 방 향은 평가 결과 현실주의 면에서 국가이익을 보장하고, 자유주의 면에서 협력과 합의를 지 속 발전시키며, 구성주의 면에서 한민족의 정체성을 회복하여 한국의 사활적 국가이익을 보장하고, 한반도 긴장을 완화하는 양방향으로 추진해야 할 것이다. 앞으로도 한국의 사활적 국가이익 보장과 한반도 긴장 완화는 한국 정부가 병행하여 추진 할 사항이다. 북한 핵전력에 대응하여 국제정치이론을 중심으로 한 추가적인 연구와 발전된 대응 방향을 기대해 본다.
