The purpose of this study is to find out about the major types of drugs used in Korea, the reasons for drug use, the first age of drug use, and the route of drug purchase. In addition, focusing on self-control theory, general strain theory, and rational choice theory, we will investigate how self-control, experience of tension and stress, and perception of loss due to drug use affect drug use. In addition, by controlling for gender, age, income, religion, education, and marital status, we tried to find out which group had characteristics who used or did not use drugs. This study was analyzed based on the secondary data of the survey on drug use and consciousness conducted in 2014 by the Korea Criminal Policy Institute. As a result, the weaker the self-control, the greater the experience of tension and stress, and the lower the perception of loss due to drug use, the more drug use was found, supporting the hypothesis.

본 연구는 우리나라에서 주요하게 사용되는 약물의 종류와, 약물 사용 이유, 약물 사용 최 초 연령, 약물 구입 경로 등에 대해서 알아보고자 한다. 또한 자기통제이론, 일반긴장이론, 합리적선택이론을 중심으로 하여 자기통제력, 긴장·스트레스 경험, 약물 사용으로 인한 손 실에 대한 인식이 약물 사용에 어떻게 영향을 미치는지 알아보고자 한다. 그리고 성별, 연령, 소득, 종교, 학력, 혼인상태를 통제해봄으로써 어떠한 특성을 가진 집단이 약물을 사용하거 나 사용하지 않는지 알아보고자 했다. 본 연구는 한국형사정책연구원에서 2014년에 실시한 약물 이용실태 및 의식에 관한 설문조사의 2차 데이터를 기반으로 분석을 실시하였다. 그 결 과, 자기통제력이 약할수록, 긴장·스트레스 경험이 많을수록, 약물 사용으로 인한 손실에 대한 인식이 낮을수록 약물 사용 경험이 많은 것으로 나타나 자기통제력이 약할수록, 긴장· 스트레스 경험이 많을수록, 약물 사용으로 인한 손실에 대한 인식이 낮을수록 약물을 사용할 것이라는 가설이 지지되었다.
