In this study, the effects of psychological characteristics, competency characteristics, and leadership characteristics of CEOs of service SMEs on business performance were analyzed. As a result of empirical analysis, first, it was found that the risk tolerance of the CEO's psychological characteristics had a significant effect on financial and non-financial performance. In other words, the top management confirmed that the ability to take risks and respond boldly was necessary. Second, among the competency characteristics of the CEO, management competency was found to have a significant effect on financial and non-financial performance. These results show that the CEO's ability to present the company's vision, place human resources in the right place, and lead the organization is a very important key variable. Third, it was found that the free democratic type of the leadership characteristics of the CEO had a significant effect on non-financial performance, and the preliminary type had a significant effect on financial performance. This is a result of showing that the prerequisite leadership type is advantageous for financial performance management such as sales and operating profit, and that the liberal democratic leadership is advantageous for improving non-financial performance such as corporate social responsibility or value realization.

본 연구에서는 서비스 중소기업 최고경영자의 심리적 특성, 역량적 특성, 리더십 특성이 경영성과에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 실증 분석 결과, 첫째, 최고경영자의 심리적 특성 중 위험감수성은 재무성과와 비재무성과에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 최고 경영자는 위험을 감수하고 과감하게 대응할 수 있는 능력이 필요하다는 것을 확인하 였다. 둘째, 최고경영자의 역량적 특성 중 관리역량은 재무적, 비재무적 성과에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 최고경영자가 기업의 비전을 제시하고 인적자원을 적소에 배치하며 조직을 이끌어 가는 능력이 매우 중요한 핵심 변수임을 보여 준다. 셋째, 최고경영자의 리더십 특성의 자유민주형은 비재무성과에 유의한 영향을 미치 고, 전제형은 재무성과에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 전제형 리더십 유형은 매출액과 영업이익과 같은 재무적 성과 관리에 유리하며, 자유민주형 리더십은 기업의 사회적 책임이나 가치실현과 같은 비재무적 성과 향상에 유리한 리더십 유형임을 보여주는 결과이다.
