The purpose of this study is to identify the effects of the Big 5 personality types and the cooperativeness-competitiveness personality of elementary school students on their social comparison. To conduct the study, 137 6th grade elementary school students living in C-city, Chungcheongbuk-do were the subjects of the study. The survey was conducted for 14 days from May 16 to May 29, 2022. The collected survey data were analyzed using the SPSS program, and the results of the study are as follows. First, there was a significant difference in the degree of recognition of social comparison type according to the classification of the Big 5 personality types and the cooperativeness-competitiveness personality groups of elementary school students. Second, there was a significant correlation between the Big 5 personality types of elementary school students, cooperativeness-competitiveness personalities, and social comparison types. Third, Big 5 personality types and cooperativeness-competitiveness personality had a significant effect on elementary school students' social comparison type. Fourth, the relative influence of the Big 5 personality type and the cooperativeness-competitiveness personality on the social comparison of elementary school students was significant in some factors. This suggests that the personality type and cooperativeness-competitiveness personality of elementary school students play an important role in recognizing social comparison. Therefore, elementary school teachers should carefully consider the personality type of elementary school students and help them to correctly recognize social comparison.

본 연구는 초등학생의 Big 5 성격유형과 협동-경쟁 성격이 사회적 비교에 미 치는 영향을 파악하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 연구를 수행하기 위해 충청북도 C시 에 거주하는 초등학교 6학년 학생 137명을 연구대상으로 하였고, 2022년 5월 16일부터 5월 29일까지 14일에 걸처 설문조사를 수행하였다. 수집된 설문 자료 는 SPSS 프로그램을 이용하여 분석하였고, 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 초 등학생의 Big 5 성격유형과 협동-경쟁 성격 집단 구분에 따라 사회적 비교유형 인식 정도는 유의한 차이를 보였다. 둘째, 초등학생의 Big 5 성격유형과 협동- 경쟁 성격, 사회적 비교유형 간에는 유의한 상관관계가 있었다. 셋째, Big 5 성 격유형과 협동-경쟁 성격은 초등학생의 사회적 비교유형에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, Big 5 성격유형과 협동-경쟁 성격이 초등학생의 사회적 비교에 미치는 상대적 영향력은 일부 요인에서 유의하였다. 이는 초등학생의 성 격유형과 협동-경쟁 성격이 사회적 비교를 인식하는 데 있어 중요한 역할을 하고 있음을 시사한다. 그러므로 교사와 지도자는 초등학생이 지닌 성격유형을 잘 고려하여 학생들이 올바르게 사회적 비교를 인식할 수 있도록 돕는 방안을 마련할 필요가 있다.
