Sohakryoung was Lee Haejo’s new novel serialized in Maeil-Sinbo in 1912. This work which deals with migration to Russian Primorye has been studied as one of the “immigration literature”. In recent studies, with the change of the cover of Maeil-Sinbo, Sohakryoung is regarded as an experimental piece of “detective novels” challenged by Lee Haejo and a work with the motif of a murder case in Russian Primorye of the era. Based on these previous studies, this thesis examined the imaginative geography of Russian Primory reproduced through the work. In Sohakryoung, Shingaecheokri, the center of Korean society, was reproduced as a lawless zone, and as the base of the Righteous Army Movement, Sohakryeong and Chupung were reproduced as the final destination of suffering and the immigration. This shows a significant difference from the political status of Russian Primorye which was the center of the Righteous Army Movement at that time. From this, it can be seen that for Lee Haejo, Russian Primorye was just a lawless zone deprived of politics and an overseas space where immigrants could not settle.

이 논문은 『소학령』에 나타난 연해주의 심상지리를 고찰한 글이다. 『소학령』에서 연해주는 ‘신개척지’, ‘소학령’, ‘추풍’이라는 세 공간을 통해 재현되었고 이 세공간의 재현에 있어서 『소학령』은 실제 이미지 를 최대한 반영하고자 노력하는 서사전략을 구사하였다. 다만 이 ‘실제 이미지’라는 것은 정치성이 소거된 일상 공간으로서의 연해주였다는 조건부적인 것이었고 그 소거된 정치성을 대체하고 나선 것은 식민 의 논리였다. 따라서 『소학령』에서 연해주는 여전히 식민의 논리가 반복되는 공간이었고 이는 작가 이해조가 연해주라는 공간의 고유한 특징을 무시한 채 자신이 익숙한 식민의 논리 속에서 연해주를 재단하 고 상상하고 있음을 말해준다.
