This study analyzed Korean subtitle translation patterns used in the Japanese drama Solitary Gourmet Season 9, primarily focusing on the relationships between changes in the viewing environment of the content and changes in subtitle translation methods in Over-the-Top (OTT) services. Because of the temporal and spatial restrictions involved in using conventional subtitle translation to transmit content into images, decimation and condensation translation methods were customary. The popularization of OTT services has changed the environment in which content is viewed. An analysis of Solitary Gourmet Season 9, a drama accessible through OTT services, revealed the implementation of various subtitle patterns. Results of the analysis include the following: 1) Demand arose for varied translation structures and formats due to the viewing environment of the content and the intentions of the translator and clients. Consequently, subtitle translation methods also seemed to have diversified. 2) Subtitle translation of audiovisual content was intended for enjoyment or for intellectual learning. These two subtitle styles differed from each other in their structure and patterns. 3) The Korean subtitle structure used in this drama aimed to widely publicize Japanese language and culture. Deviating from word count limits and transmitting information of the content allowed viewers to gain vast knowledge from the drama. This study shows the significance of implementing new methods for audiovisual translation. However, the results of a targeted analysis of content from one Japanese drama cannot be generalized to all translated material accessible through OTT services. Further studies analyzing additional Korean subtitle attributes are necessary.

본 연구는 OTT 서비스와 같은 콘텐츠 시청 환경의 변화와 문화 간 소통을 위한 영상 자막의 변화를 살펴보고자 한다. 본 연구에서는 일본 드라마 <고독한 미식가> 시즌9 의 한국어 자막을 소재로 하여 분석하고 있다. 전통적인 콘텐츠의 자막에서는 시공간 적인 제약을 받기 때문에 영상 안에 제공되는 자막은 내용 전달에 한계가 있을 수밖에 없다. 그래서 일반적으로 생략과 압축된 번역 방법의 사용이 일반적이다. 그러나 OTT 서비스의 보급으로 인해 콘텐츠 시청 환경에 변화가 생겨, 본 연구 대상인 드라마자막 에서는 지금까지와는 다른 다양한 자막 유형을 찾아볼 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 새로운 유형의 자막을 시도하고 있는 드라마 자막 분석을 통해, 다음 과 같이 OTT 시대에 맞는 자막의 발전 방향과 구성 유형을 살펴보고자 한다. 첫째, 콘 텐츠 시청 환경과 번역자 및 번역 의뢰자의 의도에 따라 시도될 수 있는 다양한 자막의 구조와 형식을 살펴보고자 한다. 이를 통해 영상 번역을 대표하는 드라마 자막의 발전 방향과 새로운 변화 방향을 살펴보았다. 그리고 둘째로 영상 콘텐츠의 자막은 감상과 지식적 학습이라는 목적에 따라, 자막의 상이한 구조와 유형을 찾아 볼 수 있음을 정리 하고자 하였다. 마지막으로 셋째, 연구 대상이 되는 드라마의 자막은 단순히 드라마 시 청을 목적으로 구성된 자막이 아닌 일본어와 일본 문화를 알리고 소통하려는 목적을 가지고 있음을 한국어 자막 구조를 통해 검증해보고자 하였다.
