This study explores the necessity of developing a Korean cultural textbook targeting students majoring in Korean Studies in Taiwan. In doing so, this study analyzed the needs survey of learners as a part of the fundamental research. This study explores the necessity of developing a Korean cultural textbook targeting students majoring in Korean Studies in Taiwan. In doing so, this study analyzed the needs survey of learners as a part of the fundamental research. To develop the textbook content, the emphasis was placed on assisting learners to study modern Korean society and culture through Korean pop culture and to grasp the essence of Korean culture by developing critical thinking to understand Korean pop culture properly. As a part of the fundamental research for developing a textbook for Taiwanese students majoring in Korean studies, a survey was conducted on 82 learners at two different Taiwanese universities. The purpose of the survey was to identify the key elements and topics of Korean culture that the learners were most interested in. The results confirmed that Taiwanese learners learn the Korean language and culture through popular culture portrayed in the media, and thus the development plan should reflect these survey results by prioritizing topics of learners’ interest.

본 연구는 대만 내 한국학 전공자들을 대상으로 하는 한국문화 교재 개발의 필요성 을 탐색하고 이를 위한 기초 연구로 학습자 요구조사를 분석하는 데에 그 목적이 있다. 교재 내용 구성에 있어서 한국문화 중에서도 특히 대중문화를 통하여 현대 사회와 문 화를 이해할 수 있도록 하며 학습자들이 한국대중문화를 비판적으로 수용함으로써 한 국문화의 올바른 이해를 돕는 데에 초점을 두었다. 이에 대만 한국학 전공자를 대상으 로 하는 교재를 개발하기 위한 기초 작업으로 대만 내에서 한국학을 개설한 2개교에서 한국학을 전공하고 있는 82명의 학습자를 대상으로 설문조사를 실시했다. 설문조사는 학습자들이 관심을 갖는 한국문화 요소 및 주제 등을 파악하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 설문조사 분석 결과, 대만의 한국학 전공자들은 미디어를 통해 대중문화로 한국어와 한국문화를 이해하고 있다는 사실을 확인할 수 있었으며, 차후 교재 집필 시에는 위의 설문조사 결과를 반영하여 한국학 전공자들이 관심을 갖는 주제를 우선적으로 선별할 계획이다.
