This thesis analyzes the controversial issue between Korea and Japan over Dokdo sovereignty. Regarding Dokdo, which became Korean territory after the war, Japan has been insisting on Dokdo’s sovereignty through diplomatic documents and textbook revisions every year. Such actions by Japan have become a hot issue between Korea and Japan, and often become a diplomatic pending issue. Japan’s claim to sovereignty over Dokdo is presented by various manners, but this paper, it is analyzed in the following four ways. First, the Japanese claiming Dokdo sovereignty through various questions and answers at the Japanese National Assembly, second, Japanese foreign minister’s press conference, third, resolution through Dokdo ICJ, and fourth, Dokdo sovereignty through textbook writing and education on Dokdo in schools claims, etc. However, the evidence supporting Japan’s claim of Sovereignty over Dokdo is rather that Dokdo has nothing to do with Japan. Japan’s claim to sovereignty over Dokdo is becoming an issue in Korea-Japan relations, as this is contrary to Korea’s position that Dokdo has noting to do with international disputes. And the claim of Dokdo’s indigenous territory in Japanese history textbooks reveals the illegality of Japan’s forcible incorporation of Dokdo in 1905.

이 논문은 독도영유를 둘러싼 한일 간의 쟁점사안에 대해서 분석하고 있다. 전후 한 국영토가 된 독도에 대해서 일본은 매년 외교문서와 교과서개정을 통해 독도영유를 주 장해오고 있다. 일본의 이러한 행위는 한일 간 현안이 되어 자주 외교문제가 되기도 한 다. 일본에 의한 독도영유주장은 다양한 방법에 의해 제기되지만 이 논문에서는 이하 네 가지로 분석하고 있다. 첫째, 일본국회에서의 다양한 질의응답을 통한 독도영유권주장, 둘째, 일본외교수장 의 기자회견, 셋째, 독도국제사법재판소제소를 통한 해소, 그리고 넷째, 교과서집필과 학교에서의 독도교육을 통한 독도영유권주장 등이다. 그러나 일본의 독도영유주장의 근거가 되는 자료들은 오히려 독도가 일본과는 무관 하다는 내용들이다. 예를 들면, 일본국회는 한국의 독도영유주장에 대해서 불법성만 강 조하고 독도국제사법재판소제소를 고집하는 형국이다. 이는 독도가 국제분쟁과는 무관 하다는 한국의 입장과 배치되기에 일본의 독도영유권주장은 한일관계의 현안이 되고 있다. 그리고 일본역사교과서의 독도고유영토주장은 1905년 일본의 독도강제편입의 불 법성을 드러내고 있다. 그래서 이 논문은 일본의 독도영유권주장은 기시다정부에서도 계속 될 수 있고 더 나아가서 이는 한일관계를 곤란하게 할 수 있다는 것이다. 이에 대 한 근거로는 기시다 총리의 이전 독도관련 발언과 2022년 일본고등학교 교과서 검정결 과를 바탕으로 분석하고 있다.
