The purpose of this study is to suggest the direction of the aged’s Christian education by examining the characteristics of the aged, the meaning of the aged, and the recognition of our society on them in the rapidly changing Korean society. Traditionally the aged has been recognized as sick, stubborn, dirty, smelly, and weak. Today is, however, called the Homo-hundred era because of increasing life expectancy. Moreover low birth rate also makes our society older. Low birth rate and long life-expectancy become worse and worse in several areas in the globe. In the midst of super-aging society, we need to renew our awareness of the elderly, who have been considered only as an object of care and social cost, to discover the elderly as a positive social resource. The church also tries to develop educational programs for the aged’s educational needs. Furthermore, the aged’s Christian education can help the whole congregation which refers to younger generation and older generation over all. Therefore, this study proposes the old age as a human resource that can take a leading role in the ministry of the church. Moreover, the emergence of active seniors is expected to provide another solution in the local church that has difficulty in shortage of volunteers. In the rapidly changing society and the changes in the lives of the elderly, Christian education for the elderly should also be diversified to strengthen the elderly generation's own capabilities and accommodate various educational needs. As an alternative to resolving the low fertility and aging population and the deepening of intergenerational conflict, reinforcement of generational community education is presented as a way to enhance the understanding of the elderly and mutual understanding between generations. As a follow-up to this study, it is to be developed a concrete Christian education model that can implement more specific forms and contents for the aged’s various and specific needs.

인간의 평균수명 100세 시대를 일컫는 용어인 ‘호모 헌드레드(Homo-hundred) 시 대’는 UN이 2009년에 발표한 세계인구 고령화 보고서에서 처음 언급되면서 등장하게 되었다. 전 세계적으로 유례없이 빠른 속도로 초고령 사회를 향해 가고 있는 우리의 상황 속에서 지금까지 돌봄의 대상과 사회비용으로만 간주되었던 노인에 대한 인식을 새롭게 하여 긍정적인 사회적 자원으로서의 노인을 발견하고, 그들의 교육적 요구에 적합한 노년교육을 제시할 필요가 있다. 더 나아가 국가 주도로 돌봄 위주의 복지차 원에서 이루어졌던 노인교육에서 벗어나 노인교육의 확산 및 통전적 차원에서 건강하 고 활기찬 노년의 삶을 누릴 수 있도록 돕는 기독교노년교육이 필요하다. 이에 본 연구는 노인에 대한 기존의 인식에서 벗어나 인적자원으로서의 노인을 새 롭게 인식하여 교회의 사역현장에서 주도적 역할을 감당할 수 있는 세대로 노년을 제 안한다. 더구나 액티브 시니어의 등장은 목회현장에서 고령화 시대의 또 다른 해법을 제시해 줄 수 있을 것이라 본다. 급속히 변해가는 사회와 노년 자신들의 삶의 변화속에서 이들을 돕는 기독교노년교육 역시 그 내용에 있어 노년세대 자신의 역량을 강 화하고 다양한 교육적 요구를 수용할 수 있도록 다변화해야 할 것이다. 저출산⋅고령 화와 세대 간 갈등의 심화를 해결할 수 있는 대안으로 노년세대 이해 및 세대 간 상 호이해를 증진할 수 있는 방안으로 세대공동체교육의 강화를 제시한다. 후속연구로 우리나라보다 빠르게 노령화의 길을 접어든 나라들의 노년교육을 비교 연구하고, 우리 사회에 적합하며 다른 세대를 포함하여 노년층의 다양하고 구체적인 요구를 반영한 기독교노년교육 모형을 제시해보고자 한다.
