This study redefines the artistic value and subjective sensibility of the Namib Desert through images taken from the Namib Desert in Namibia, a country located on the southwestern coast of Africa. Based on Roland Barthes' studium and punctum for research, it was revealed that the desert represents the sensibility of modern people and is a reduced aspect of life. As a result of the study, it was revealed that the punctum-like sensibility of Namibian desert photography is revealed in five ways: hope, continuity of time, cycle of life, intersection of studium and punctum, and the truth of things. This study has academic significance in that it seeks to read punctum-like photos by analyzing the emotions revealed through the work, and gives visual perception and psychological meaning to the photos to reveal artistic values, allowing us to look at the emotional aesthetics of desert photos.

본 연구는 아프리카 서남부 해안에 위치한 국가 나미비아의 ‘나미브 사막’에서 촬영한 이미지 를 통하여 나미브 사막의 예술적 가치와 주관적 감성에 대한 의미를 재정립한 것이다. 연구를 위해 롤랑바르트의 스투디움과 푼크툼을 바탕으로 사막이 현대인의 감성을 대변하고 축소된 삶 의 단면임을 드러내었다. 연구결과로 나미비아 사막 사진의 푼크툼적 감성으로 희망, 시간의 연 속성, 생명의 순환, 스투디움과 푼크툼의 교차, 사물의 진실 등 다섯 가지로 드러나고 있음을 밝 혔다. 본 연구는 작품을 통해 드러나는 감정을 분석해 봄으로써 푼크툼적 사진 읽기를 모색하였 고 사진을 대상으로 시각적인 인지와 심리적 의미를 부여하여 예술적 가치를 드러나게 하여 사 막 사진의 감성 미학을 바라보게 하는 학문적 의의가 있다.
