This article examines the discussion of major political philosophers on private property rights, examines the difference between the attributes of private property rights and other basic liberty, and then suggests meanings related to our society and education. First, the view of private property of Plato and Aristotle before modern times is considered. Second, the view of Locke and other social contract theory thinker is reviewed. Third, the property of private property is compared with other basic liberty, and the conclusion summarizes the contents of the text and suggests the implications of the reality and education of our society today.

이 글은 사유재산권에 대한 주요 정치철학 사상가들의 논의를 검토 하고, 사유재산권과 다른 기본적 자유들의 속성의 차이를 살펴본 후, 우리 사회와 도덕윤리교육에 관련된 의미를 도출해 보려 한다. 첫째, 근대 이전 플라톤과 아리스토텔레스의 사유재산에 대한 견해를 고찰한 다. 둘째, 사유재산권을 정당화한 계약론자 로크의 이론과 대조적인 계 약론자 홉스와 베카리아의 견해를 검토한다. 셋째, 사유재산권을 다른 기본적 자유들과 비교함으로써 그 차별성을 탐색해 본다. 결론은 본문 내용을 정리하고, 오늘날 우리 사회의 현실과 교육에 시사하는 바를 간략히 제안한다.
