The purpose of this study is to restore the original version of Cheon-gwa bangmok, the record of those who qualified in the Examination for the Learned and Virtuous which was implemented in 1519 at the recommendation of Jo Gwnag-jo. The first printed copy of Cheon-gwa bangmok was published by Noh Su-sin in 1579, but it is unfortunately not extant. Kim Yuk published a reprint in 1639 in Cheongju, but the extant copy currently at Yonsei University is defective. Mr. Park, Sang-il in Cheongju, collects its eight wood blocks. The reprinted copy contains ff. 1-11 and five lines at the end of Noh Su-sin's postface, and the wood blocks contain ff. 3-6; 8-9; 11-16; 17-18; 23-24. To complement the extant copy and wood blocks, this paper transcripted and edited the texts on ff. 1-16 containing the implementation process of the Examination for the Learned and Virtuous; admission cancellation and re-admission; successful candidate list of Erudite Examination and texts on ff. 25-26 corresponding to the postface. In addition, the standard of restoration of the book was presented by measuring the specifications of the woodblock.

본 연구는 조광조의 건의로 1519년에 시행된 현량과의 합격자를 기록한 ｢천과방목｣의 원형을 복원하려는데 그 목적으로 두고 서술하였다. ｢천과방목｣은 1579년 노수신이 처음 간행하였으나 인본은 전하지 않는다. 재간은 1639년에 김육이 청주에서 간행하였는데, 인본은 연세대학교 중앙도서관에 낙장본으로 소장되어 있고, 그 책판 8판은 청주의 박상일 선생이 소장하고 있다. 인본에는 제1∼11장까지와 노수신의 발문 끝부분 다섯 행이 수록되어 있으며, 책판에는 제3∼6, 8∼9, 11∼16, 17, 18, 23, 24장의 내용이 새겨져 있다. 이에 두 자료를 상호 보완하여 현량과의 시행과정과 파복과 그리고 문과 합격자를 수록한 1∼16장, 발문에 해당하는 25∼26장의 원문을 정리하였으며, 책판의 규격을 실측하여 복원의 기준 제원을 제시하였다.
