Personal Mobility(PM) is a newly introduced transportation mode, and it is widely used in urban areas. This study is focused on the usage behavior of PM of college students, who are the main users of PM. With adopting surveys as a main research method, this study collects data about PM users’ personal characteristics, usage behaviors and accident experiences on the university campus. The result shows that the usage behaviors are influenced by their residency types and purpose of moving. Moreover, even though the most respondents answer that they are following safety regulations, they do not obey the rule to wear helmets. This study will provide general policy implications for guiding safe PM use and prevent accidents.

개인형 이동장치(Personal Mobility, PM)는 도시교통에서 새롭게 등장한 교통수단으로서 다양한 방면에 서 사용되고 있다. 이 연구는 현재 다양하게 사용되고 있으나 사용에 따른 위험성도 많이 가지고 있는 PM에 대 한 사용자의 특성과 안전의무의 준수를 파악하기 위해 진행되었다. 특히, PM 사용자 중 대부분을 차지하고 있는 20대의 PM 사용 안전 준수 및 행태를 파악하려고 시도했다. 따라서 20대가 주를 이루고 있는 대학교 캠퍼스에서 대학생을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하여 연구자료를 획득하였다. 분석결과 PM의 활용은 주거형태 및 이동목적에 따라 많은 영향을 받는다는 결과를 얻었다. 또한, 응답자들은 대부분의 안전 규정은 준수하지만, 헬멧의 착용은 준 수하지 않는다는 응답을 하였다. 이 연구는 지속해서 확대될 것으로 예상되는 PM의 사용행태를 파악하고 안전한 사용과 사고를 감소시키는 정책적 대응의 기초를 제공한다는 데 의의가 있다.

INCA was registered as an incorporated association under the Ministry of Information and Communications. The main purpose of the organization is to improve our society by achieving the highest capability possible in next generation convergence technology.
