Park Sangsoon has attracted attention in and outside of the literary community with his uniquely abstruse verses and originality. However, despite his crucial significance in the history of contemporary Korean poetry, studies on Park’s poetry have been hindered by their ambiguity and abstruseness. In a previous study, this researcher proposed a framework for discussing Park’s poetry by examining the patterns of ‘alienation’ in his works. The study focused on the patterns of ‘primary alienation’ in his early poems, providing a preliminary overview for studying the poet’s works. However, Park’s early poems show signs of the real resisting the symbolic or symbolization, which leaves room for interpretation. this study seeks to examine signs of the real in Park Sangsoon’s poetry, for close and rich exploration of Park’s early poem collections. The real is represented on the surface layer as a realm in contrast with the symbolic, through ‘darkness,’ ‘black,’ ‘pit,’ and ‘hole.’ ‘Black’ and ‘darkness’ indicate the real that derives from the symboilc order and the signifiers, as well as juissance toward the real. ‘Pit’ and ‘hole’ are presented as a vehicle to build fanatasies that present themselves as trauma or a buried site or abyss of the real world, or deconstruct reality by showing breaches in the symbolic. Closer examination of the aforementioned topics will provide a foundation for rich discussions that will develop into psychoanalytical approach to Park’s poems and other studies on the poet’s works. They will also provide reference points to understand the patterns of ‘the real’ in other poets’ works.

박상순은 특유의 난해함과 독창성으로 문단의 안팎에서 주목을 받아왔다. 그러나 그의 시에 관한 연구는 한국 현대시사를 살피는 데에 필수적임에도 불구하고 모호성과 난해성 탓에 진행 상황이 미비한 편이다. 본 연구자는 박상순의 시에 나타나는 ‘소외’ 양상을 살펴 논의의 틀을 제시한 바 있다. 특히, 초기 시집에 나타난 ‘1차 소외’ 양상을 집중적으로 논의해서, 박상순 시 연구의 계기적·예비적 고찰을 하고자 하였다. 그런데 그의 초기 시집에는 상징계 혹은 상징화에 저항하는 실재 양상도 드러나므로, 해석의 잔여를 남기는 것이다. 본 연구는 실재의 양상을 살펴서 박상순 초기 시집의 면밀하고 풍요한 고찰에 이르고자 한다. 실재는 ‘어둠’과 ‘검정’, ‘구덩이(웅덩이)’와 ‘구멍’을 통해 상징계에 대응하는 영역으로서 시의 표층에 형상화된다. ‘어둠’과 ‘검정’은 상징적 질서, 시니피앙의 연쇄에서 파생하는 실재 및 실재에로의 주이상스를 표시하거나 상징계를 지탱하는 연원으로써의 실재를 제시하고 있다. ‘구덩이(웅덩이)’와 ‘구멍’은 외상 및 현실 세계의 매몰지나 심연으로 드러나거나 상징계의 균열을 나타내 현실을 와해하는 환상 구현의 매개물로써 제시되고 있다. 이상의 내용을 살피면, 박상순 시의 정신분석적 접근, 박상순 시 연구로 전개될 풍성한 논의의 계기가 마련될 수 있을 것이다. 또한, 다른 시인의 작품에 드러나는 ‘실재’ 양상을 살필 참조점이 되어줄 수 있을 것이다.
