This study investigates students’responses to the triangle-division task. The task was modified according to the principles of designing good mathematical task. This study, conducted with the 6th graders after two pilot studies, shows that students recognize the pair of ‘acute triangle, obtuse triangle’ and ‘right triangle, right triangle’ more than other pairs. Several errors were found in the process of dividing triangles: errors in drawing angles, errors in calculating the sum of angles, errors in the concept of acute triangle, obtuse triangle and right triangle. At the stage of arranging and expanding the findings, active mathematical communications were shown. Students presented interesting inquiries though some of them are difficult for the 6th graders to explore. From this, it is suggested that teacher's guidances are necessary in students’ open-ended discussions.

본 연구에서는 좋은 수학 과제 관련 선행 연구에서 개발된 초등 수학 과제 중 삼 각형 분할 탐구 과제를 수정하여 현장에서 적용해보고 학생들의 반응을 분석하였 다. 그 결과, 학생들은 예각삼각형과 둔각삼각형, 직각삼각형과 직각삼각형의 조합 을 더 많이 인식하는 경향이 드러났고, 분할 과정에서 각도와 각의 크기 불일치 오 류, 각도 계산의 오류, 예각삼각형, 직각삼각형, 둔각삼각형의 개념 오류를 확인하 였다. 탐구 결과를 정리하고 확장하는 단계에서 학생들은 활발한 의사소통을 보였 으나 탐구하기 어려운 문제를 제시하는 경우가 있어 교사의 안내가 필요함을 알 수 있었다.
