People experience a decline in both physical and cognitive function due to aging, and their ability to emphasize emotionally decreases. The level of decline or decrease varies greatly from person to person. The quality of life depends on the level, and relationships with other people become difficult when the level is severely lowered. Therefore, the current study attempted to confirm the effectiveness of a health promotion program which utilizes teaching aids for community-dwelling older adults for the purpose of improving their physical and cognitive function as well as emotional empathy. As a result, it was confirmed that both older adults with MCI (mild cognitive impairment) and those in good health improved their physical and emotional abilities and the cognitive function for those with MCI was improved. Some limitations and supplements that can increase the possibility of utilizing the program were discussed in the last section of this paper.

노화는 누구나 신체 및 인지기능의 저하를 경험하게 하고 정서적 공감 능력도 감소하게 한다. 그 와 같은 저하나 감소 수준은 개인차가 크다. 또 그 수준이 어느 정도인지에 따라서 삶의 질이 좌우 되며, 수준 저하가 심할 경우 다른 사람과의 관계도 어려워진다. 이에 본 연구에서는 그 기능 및 공 감 능력의 향상을 목적으로 지역사회에서 노인교구를 활용하고 있는 한 건강증진 프로그램의 효과를 확인하고자 했다. 그 결과, 인지기능이 다소 저하된 노인이나 건강한 노인 모두 신체기능 및 정서적 능력이 향상했고, 인지기능이 저하된 노인들의 인지능력도 향상했음을 확인했다. 본고의 마지막 부분 에서는 그 프로그램의 활용 가능성을 높일 수 있는 제한 및 보완사항을 논했다.
