- On the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and China, it is important to review the 30 years of development of Korean language education in China. This paper analyzes the current situation and problems of Korean language education in China, focusing on universities and junior colleges with Korean departments in central region. The central region refers to one of the four major economic zones, which consists of six provinces including Shanxi, Anhui, Jiangxi, Henan, Hubei and Hunan. In central region, 10 junior colleges and 11 universities have Korean departments. Unlike universities, junior colleges have many practical subjects, take joint training schemes in cooperation with Korean universities, and most faculty members are double-position teachers with two qualifications. In the case of universities, the demand for other foreign languages has increased, and subjects to foster graduate students have also increased. Among the problems revealed, the shortage of students is most serious. As the number of applicants for the Korean department has decreased, many schools have faced closure crisis. The promotion of young instructors to professors is also serious. The problems pointed out in this paper are not limited to the universities in central region.

- 한중 수교 30주년을 맞아 재중 한국어 교육의 30년 발전과 문제점을 검토하는 것은 중요한 의미를 가진다. 본고는 중부지역에 한하여 한국어 학과를 개설한 일반대학과 전문대학 을 중심으로 한국어 교육 현황과 문제점을 분석하였다. 중부지역이란 중국 4대 경제 구역의 하나로서 산서, 안휘, 강서, 하남, 호북, 호남 여섯 省을 가리킨다. 중부지역에서 한국어 학과를 개설한 대학은 전문대학 10개와 일반대학 11개가 있다. 전문대학은 일반대학과 달리 실용 과목이 많고 한국 대학과 협력하여 공동 인재 양성 프로그램을 추진하며, 교수진 중에 쌍사형(double-position teachers) 교수가 많다. 일반대학의 경우 한국어를 비롯한 외국어에 대한 요구가 높아지고 대학원생 양성을 위한 과목이 많아졌다. 드러난 문제 중 학생 부족 문제가 가장 심각하다. 한국어 학과 지원자가 줄어들어 다수 학교가 폐과 위기에 직면했다. 젊은 강사의 승진 문제 역시 심각하다. 본고에서 지적한 문제점은 중부지역 대학에 만 국한되지 않고 대부분 지역 대학에 보편적으로 존재하는 문제이기도 하다.
