Since ancient time, Shandong Region has kept an inseparable cultural and economic relation with south Korea. Since the establishment of the political tie between China and south Korea in 1992, communications between the two countries have become more frequent, leading to an increasing need of Korean talents. In 1992, three universities, including Shandong University, have established Korean major and begun to recruit students. Since then, education and research on Korean studies in Shandong Region have begun officially. Education on Korean studies in Shandong Region has experienced three stages: initial, developmental, and sophisticated. Till now, talents boasting historical, cultural, social, political, and economic knowledge of Korean studies have been cultivated. Currently, a total of 16 four-year universities in Shandong Region have set up Korean major, nine of which provide postgraduate courses. Three decades on, Shandong Region has witnessed great achievements in education on Korean studies from various perspectives, including course establishment, textbook compiling, and faculty construction. With the development of education on Korean studies, research on Korean studies has also received attention. Numerous theses and work on Korean studies have been published. To enhance interdisciplinary research, several universities have opened research institutes for Korean studies, producing abundant research on Korean studies. Despite the fact that great achievements have been made in education and research on Korean studies, problems have been found, such as difficulty in student recruitment and employment, insufficiency of some textbooks, and the simplification of the research area of Korean studies. By analyzing the achievements and problems in current education and research on Korean studies, the current study proposes several implications for future education and research on Korean studies. To begin with, education and research talents in Korean studies ought to be cultivated and courses and education programs should be opened in accordance with each university’s characterization. Then, professional textbooks for Korean studies are supposed to be compiled and interdisciplinary education and research and online education ought to be strengthened. Finally, excellent Korean studies video courses should be introduced.

산동 지역은 고대로부터 문화, 경제 분야에서 한국과 불가분의 관계를 유지해 왔다. 1992년 중한수교를 계기로 여러 분야에서의 교류가 활발해지면서 한국어 인재에 대한 수요가 급증하게 되었으며 1992년에 산동대학교를 비롯한 세 개의 대학교에 한국어학과 가 설립되어 학생 모집을 시작하게 되면서 산동 지역의 한국학 교육과 한국학 연구가 본격적으로 시작되었다. 산동 지역 한국학 교육은 초창기, 성장기, 성숙기 세 발전 과정을 거쳐 현재까지 역사, 문화, 사회, 정치, 경제 등 지식을 갖춘 한국학 고급 인재들을 배출하 였다. 현재 산동 지역에는 한국어학과가 개설된 4년제 대학교가 총 16개가 있고, 그 중 9개의 대학교에 대학원 과정이 개설되어 있다. 30여 년의 발전을 거쳐 산동 지역 한국학 교육은 교과목 설정, 교재 편찬, 교수진 확보 등 여러 면에서 커다란 성과를 거두었다. 한국학 교육의 발전과 더불어 한국학 연구도 활성화되어 한국학 관련 논문, 저서 등 연구 성과들이 쏟아져 나왔고, 학제 간 연구를 강화하기 위해 여러 대학교에서 한국학 관련 연구소를 설립하여 한국학 연구 성과들을 산출하고 있다. 이와 같이 한국학 교육과 한국학 연구가 많은 성과를 거두었지만 학생 모집의 어려움, 졸업생들의 취업난, 일부 교과목의 강의 교재 부족, 한국학 연구 분야의 단일성 등 문제점들도 나타났다. 본고에서는 현재 한국학 교육과 연구에서 거둔 성과들과 나타나는 문제점들에 대한 분석을 통해 향후 한국 학 교육과 한국학 연구의 발전 전망을 한국학 제 분야의 교육 및 연구 인재 확보, 대학마다 자체의 특색을 살린 교과목 개발과 교육 방안 모색, 전문성을 갖춘 한국학 교육용 교재 개발, 학제 간 교류와 연구 강화, 우수한 한국학 화상강의 도입과 온라인 교육 개발 등 발전 전망을 제시하였다.
