Since the advent of Crypto Lockers in 2013, Ransomware has been rapidly growing as a revenue source for criminal organizations. In June 2017, Korea web hosting company 'N' was attacked by Ransomware, and 5,000 customer websites were shut down. Company 'N' paid a 400 Bitcoin that cost over $ 1 million to reclaim the data and invested additional time and money in data recovery. Small businesses with less than 20 employees, 96% of domestic businesses, are not able to secure sufficient IT security specialists to prepare for Ransomware. In this study, we compared the 6 backup methods, which is one of the most basic and important strategies among Ransomware's countermeasures. A Client-shared folders backup type was found as a good solution for small business to utilize. In order to effectively protect data from Ransomware, small business would better to follow the basic policy of backup 3-2-1 principle. It is suggested to set client-share folder backup type as primary backup and utilize NAS and cloud backup as secondary backup.
