The purpose of this study is to reveal the concept and philosophy of Reasonable Consumption based on the ideology of the Principle of Mutual Existence. Unification Thought presents the Principle of Mutual Existence as the economic ideology of an ideal society. The Principle of Mutual Existence is the economic ideology based on the joint ownership between Heavenly parent and humans, and the philosophy that harmoniously considers the reasonable ownership of individuals. The Principle of Mutual Existence seeks to present a new system of ideal social economic activities throughout the production, exchange, distribution, and consumption of goods and services. Among them, consumption can be an activity that shows the problematic characteristics of the modern capitalism. In order to realize an ideal economy, the consumption culture must change in the right direction. It is necessary to review Unification Thought's concepts of the joint ownership and the reasonable ownership in response to consumption phenomena of the modern capitalism. It is necessary to overcome the wrong consumption culture such as excessive consumption and luxury consumption and present the consumption culture and system according to the Principle of Mutual Experience. According to the Ideology of the Principle of Mutual Experience, the state should support the Joint Consumption, which improves the minimum quality of life based on the Joint Ownership between Heavenly Parent, God and humans. In addition, it is necessary to create the new consumption culture and system that balances the lifestyle between aims for the value desire of truth, goodness, beauty, and holiness and the physiological need of food, clothing, and shelter. Created as children of Heavenly parent, God, mankind must consume goods and services equally from the standpoint of siblings to each other with love and sincerity. In addition, mankind should strive for economic reform while being grateful and happy for the functions and demands of them.

본 연구의 목적은 공생주의에 기초한 적정소비의 개념과 철학을 밝히는 것이다. 『통일사상요강』은 이상사회의 경제이념으로 공생주의를 제시하고 있다. 공생주의는 하늘부모님과 인간의 공동소유를 바탕으로 한 경제이념이며, 개인의 적정소유를 조 화롭게 고려하는 철학이다. 공생주의는 재화와 서비스의 생산‧교환‧분배‧소비 등에 전반에 걸쳐 이상사회 경제활동의 새로운 체제를 제시하고자 한다. 특히 소비는 현 대 자본주의 경제체제의 문화적 특징을 잘 보여주는 활동이라고 할 수 있다. 이상적 인 경제를 실현하기 위해서 소비문화가 먼저 바람직한 방향으로 바뀌어야 한다. 통 일사상의 공동소유와 적정소유 개념을 소비현상에 대응하여 검토할 필요가 있는 것 이다. 과소비와 사치소비 등 잘못된 소비문화를 극복하고 공생주의에 따른 소비문화 와 제도를 제시해야 한다. 공생주의에 따라 국가는 공동소유를 바탕으로 최소한의 삶의 질을 향상시키는 공동소비를 지원해야 한다. 또한 진선미성의 가치적 욕구를 지향하는 라이프스타일과 의식주성의 생리적 욕구를 지향하는 라이프스타일의 균형 을 맞춘 소비문화와 제도를 만들어가야 한다. 하늘부모님의 자녀로 창조된 인류는 서로 형제자매의 입장에서 균등하고 평등하게 재화와 서비스를 사랑과 정성으로 소 비하고 그 기능과 소구에 감사와 행복을 느끼면서 물심일여의 가치를 느끼며 살 때 까지 경제개혁에 힘써야 할 것이다.
