The virtues of the military spirit that the Korean military should aim for and practice by examining the military culture and actual conditions of the Korean military along with historical considerations of the Korean military, as well as comparing and analyzing the command philosophy and the actual situation of the military spirit of the foreign military based on literature and case studies was presented. The purpose is to present three core values that the military can effectively respond to in the era of the 4th industrial revolution and changes in the future defense environment. First, it is suggested to consider the traditional military spirit that the military should restore and to renew its roots and directions. Secondly, this article suggests the way of political neutrality of the Army Service. We will look at the honor of soldiers who have recently fallen, and the ills and problems of political soldiers, and then try to figure out what we can do to make our military return to the path of a true soldier’s real spirit and a honorable soldier. Third, it suggested the importance of maintaining a strong view of security for the mortal life that the military should aim for.

한국군의 과거 역사적 고찰과 더불어 우리 군의 군사문화와 현실태를 살펴보고 아울러 외 국군의 지휘철학과 군인정신 실태를 문헌 및 사례연구를 중심으로 비교·분석해봄으로써 한 국군이 지향하고 실천해야 할 군인정신의 덕목을 제시하였다. 군이 미래 국방환경 변화와 4 차산업혁명 시대에 효과적으로 대응할 수 있는 3가지 핵심가치를 제시하는데 그 목적이 있 다. 첫째, 군이 회복시켜야 할 전통적인 상무정신을 고찰해 보고 그 뿌리와 방향을 새롭게 할 것을 제시한다. 둘째, 최근 추락한 군인의 명예와 과거 정치 편향적인 군인들의 문제점 등을 살펴본 다음 군이 정치적 중립의 의무를 준수하여 새롭게 태어나야만 하는 당위성을 피력하고자 한다. 셋째, 군이 지향해야 할 필사즉생의 굳건한 안보관 유지의 중요성을 제시하였다.
