The third regular performance of Boosansiribgeukdan(Busan Municipal Performing Art Company) was . Founded in 1998, Boosansiribgeukdan(Busan Municipal Performing Art Company) announced the possibility of its existence through , and even the legitimacy of its establishment was recognized through subsequent re-performing performances. So even in the 2020s, is recognized as a representative work of Boosansiribgeukdan(Busan Municipal Performing Art Company). However, since no research on the characteristics and status of this performance has been attempted, the discussion about this performance so far has been treated as a sad story circulated by people‘s mouths. In order to compensate for these problems, this study attempts to approach the production process of analytically. In particular, actor Jeon Seonghwan appeared in this performance, and because of Jeon Seonghwan's performance, the performance was able to find a realistic way. Jeon Seong-hwan’s appearance did not stop with the recruitment of an actor who could play the role of King Lear, but was responsible for establishing a medium that could build a channel to graft the classic with the audience at the level of reality at the time. The position of Jeon Seonghwan, who performed such a mediating role, can be an important reminder of the actor‘s role.

부산시립극단의 세 번째 정기공연은 <리어왕>이었다. 1998년에 창립된 부산시립극단은 <리어왕>을 통해 그 존재 가능성을 알렸고, 계속되는 재공연을 통해 설립의 정당성마저 인정받을 수 있었다. 그래서 2020년대까지도 <리어왕>은 부산시립극단 공연을 대표하는 공연으로 인정되고 있다. 하지만 이 공연의 특질과 위상에 대한 연구는 시도된 바 없기 때문에, 지금까지 이 공연에 대한 평가는 인구에 회자되는 사담 정도에 불과했다. 이 연구에서는 이러한 문제점을 보완하기 위해서, <리어왕> 공연의 제작 과정에 대해 접근하고자 한다. 특히 이 공연에는 배우 전성환이 출연했고, 전성환의 연기 덕분에 <리어왕>의 공연이 현실감을 갖춘 공연으로 다듬어질 수 있었다. 전성환의 출연은 비단 리어왕 역할을 수행할 수 있는 배우 한 사람의 영입으로 그친 것이 아니라, 고전 <리어왕>을 당시 현실의 층위에서 관객 대중과 접목시킬 통로를 구축할 수 있는 매개체 구축으로 이어졌다. 이러한 매개 역할을 수행한 전성환의 위치는 배우의 역할을 상기시키는 중요한 사례가 될 수 있다.
