This paper focused on the fact that Haruki Murakami’s “after the earthquake” recognizes , that is , which is an , as a violence. Based on the fact that this book deals with a month after the earthquake (between the Aum Shinrikyo’s sarin gas attack in March of the same year), this paper also considered the two of Murakami’s non-fiction books “Underground” and “The Place That Was Promised”. It is very similar to the relation of and that figuring out what the enormous violence of the earthquake=the disaster has took away and left behind, is related to one’s present. And it may be the hatred that exists inside that caused the earthquake, and the characters facing such an internalized epicenter will affect others as well. The awareness of responsibility makes Murakami, who has been dealing with the problem of finding a own place to be, realize that he can no longer pursue only his personal values as an individual through the earthquake. Through this study, it was confirmed that such awareness of responsibility brought a transition from detachment to commitment in Murakami literature.

본고는 무라카미 하루키의 『신의 아이들은 모두 춤춘다』가 ‘압도적이고 터무니없는 상황’인 ‘재해’, 즉 ‘지진’을 일종의 폭력으로써 인식하고 있다는 점에 초점을 맞춰 분석하고자 했다. 재해의 기억이 미친 영향과 변모의 양상을 살펴보기 위해 본 작품이 지진 이후의 한 달간(같은 해 3월 옴진리교에 의한 지하철 테러 사건과의 사이)을 그리고 있다는 점에 착안해 이를 다룬 논픽션 작품인 『언더그라운드』와　『약속된 장소에서』도 시야에 넣고 고찰했다. 대지진, 즉 재해라는 거대한 폭력이 무엇을 빼앗아가고 무엇을 남겼는지를 확인하는 것, 그리고 그것이 자신의 현재와도 관련된다는 점은 정체성과 ‘기억’의 문제와 유사하다. 그리고 지진을 불러온 것은 내면에 존재하는 증오일지도 모르며, 이렇게 내면화된 진원을 확인한 등장인물들은 이것이 타인에게까지도 영향을 미치게 됨을 깨닫게 된다. 책임의 자각은 자기가 있을 곳 찾기(居場所探し)라는 문제를 다루어 온 무라카미가 지진을 통해 더 이상 개인으로서의 가치만을 추구할 수 없음을 깨닫게 만든다. 이러한 책임의 자각은 무라카미 문학에 방관에서 연대라는 전환을 가져왔음을 본 연구를 통해 확인할 수 있었다.

本稿は村上春樹の󰡔神の子どもたちはみな踊る󰡕が＜圧倒的な理不尽なもの＞である＜災害＞、つまり＜地震＞を一種の暴力として認識しているというところに焦点をあてて分析しようとした。災害の記憶が及ぼしたその影響や変貌の様子を見るために、本作品が地震以降の一ヶ月間(同年3月オウム真理教による地下鉄サリンガステロ事件との間)のことを描いていることに着目し、このオウム真理教問題を扱っているノンフィクション󰡔アンダーグラウンド󰡕と󰡔約束された場所で󰡕とも視野に入れて考察した。 大地震、すなわち災害という巨大な暴力が何を奪い、何を残したのかを確認する作業、それが自分の現在に繋がっているということはアイデンティティーと＜記憶＞の問題に似ている。そして地震を呼び起こしたのは自分自信の内面に存在している憎みなのかもしれない、このように内面化された震源と向き合った登場人物たちはそれは他人にまでも影響を及ぼすことになるということに気づくようになる。責任の自覚は自分の居場所探しというテーマを好んで扱ってきた村上は、もう個人としての価値のみを追求することはできないということを目覚めるようになる。このような責任の自覚は村上文学において、デタッチメントからコミットメントへという転換をもたらしたことが本研究を通して確認できたのである。
