The purpose of this study is to understand the aspect of reproduction of Hamel's Drift as historical and cultural contents and its historical meaning. Chapter 2 of the main body examines the 13-year journey of Hamel and his companions, who drifted to Joseon in the 17th century, and Chapter 3, the history created in Jeju, Gangjin, and Yeosu, where Hamel was detained recently led by local governments. It was intended to examine cultural content resources. Hamel's hometown, Hornichem, Netherlands, also has a memorial to commemorate Hamel, which was also mentioned in this article. Lastly, in the conclusion, the historical meaning of the reproduction of Hamel-related historical and cultural contents was identified. As seen in this article, contents using culturally and historically differentiated places related to Hamel managed by local governments are of great value as part of a regional development strategy to strengthen the competitiveness of the region. After the implementation of local autonomy, the development and activation of regional cultural contents under the system of regional branding and self-sustaining competition has become the core of regional economic competitiveness. In addition, the contentization of the cultural prototypes of Hamel-related regions (Jeju Island, Gangjin, Yeosu, and Gornichem) as seen above is being used as a cultural strategy to improve the quality of life through commercialization of culture connected with the lives of local residents. Now, Hamel's Drift is opening a new chapter not only as a historical material that shows the situation and cultural contact of the 17th century, but also as a historical and cultural content that connects the times and spaces and encompasses the subject and others.

본 연구는 『하멜 표류기의 역사 · 문화콘텐츠 발굴 및 재현 사례를 통해 그 역사적 의미를 파악하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. 본론의 제2장에서는 17세 기 조선에 표류한 하멜 일행의 13년 동안의 여정을 살펴보고, 제3장에서는 최 근 지방자치단체가 주도하여 하멜이 억류생활을 했던 제주, 강진, 여수 등에 조성되거나 조성되고 있는 하멜이 조선에 남긴 흔적들을 문화콘텐츠 자원들 을 살펴보았다. 하멜의 고향인 네덜란드 호린험(Gorinchem)시에도 하멜을 기 리기 위한 기념관이 조성되어 있는데 이 또한 본론에서 언급되었다. 마지막 으로 결론에서는 하멜 관련 역사 · 문화콘텐츠의 재현이 내포하고 있는 역사 적 의미를 파악하였다. 본론에서 살펴 본 바와 같이, 지방자치단체가 관리하고 있는 하멜 관련 역 사적 · 문화적으로 차별화된 장소를 활용한 콘텐츠는 그 지역의 경쟁력 강화 를 위한 지역개발 전략의 일환으로 그 가치가 크다. 지방자치 실시 이후 지역 간의 브랜드화와 지역의 자생적 경쟁구도 체제하에서 지역의 문화콘텐츠 개 발과 활성화는 지역경제 경쟁력의 핵심이 되고 있다. 더불어 위에서 살펴 본 하멜 관련 지역(제주도, 강진, 여수, 호린험시) 문화원형의 콘텐츠화는 지역 주민의 삶과 연결된 문화의 상품화를 통해 삶의 질을 개선할 수 있는 문화전 략으로 활용되고 있음을 알 수 있다. 이제 『하멜표류기』는 17세기 조선의 상 황과 문화 접촉을 보여주는 역사적 자료로서의 가치뿐만 아니라, 시대와 공간을 이어주고 주체와 타자를 아우르는 역사 · 문화콘텐츠로서의 새로운 장 을 열어가고 있는 것이다.
