This thesis aims to focus on the historical development and achievement of women`s movement in Korea. The women`s movement in Korea has steadily developed and has changed on the basis of sociocultural backgrounds and historical contexts. Therefore, it is very important to understand Korean women`s movement in consideration of the extraordinary nature of the modern Korean society. For the understanding of Korean women`s movement, first of all this paper attempts to discuss about it in the course of the historical development of women`s movement in Korea. And then, it will be given 4 major phases in the Korean women's movement classified according to its developmental characteristics. The first phase, which covers from enlightenment period to the pre-liberation period under the Japanese colonization, is defined as the beginning era of Korean women`s movement. The second phase, after liberation period up to 1970s, is marked as the rapid growth in movement. The third phase of 1980s is an establishing period of democratic mass movement. And as for the fourth, the women's movement enters on a new phase around the 1990s. Moreover in relation to the development of Korean women`s movement, this paper examines its particularity and the aftermath achievement, and finally, the future direction for the Korean women`s movement is mentioned.

본 논문은 한국여성운동의 전개와 성과에 대한 분석에 초점을 두고 있다. 한국여성운동은 한국사회의 사회적 배경과 역사적 맥락에 기반 하여 전개하여왔기 때문에 한국사회의 특수성에 대한 이해는 무엇보다 중요하다. 한국여성운동의 정확한 이해를 위해 본 논문은 먼저 근대에서 현대에 이르기까지의 한국 여성운동의 발전과정을 살펴본다. 그리고 한국여성운동의 역사적 전개과정을 고찰하기 위하여 한국의 여성운동을 4단계로 나눠 시기적으로 구분하여 살펴보았다. 즉, 19세기말에서 일제강점기의 여성운동을 한국여성운동의 태동으로, 해방 이후에서 1970년대까지의 여성운동을 한국 여성운동의 발전으로, 1980년대 여성운동을 민주화운동으로서의 여성운동으로, 그리고 1990년대 이후의 여성운동을 새로운 여성운동과 여성의 정치세력화로 나눠 살펴보고자 한다. 또한 본 논문은 한국여성운동의 역사적 전개과정을 기반으로 하여 한국여성운동의 특수성과 성과 및 과제를 논의하고, 새로운 여성정치에 대한 전망에 대해 언급하고자 한다.
